Ohio University Sociology-Criminology Club The Sociology-Criminology Club is an academic forum for students interested in the field to discuss and explore issues related to society and crime.

The Ohio University Sociology-Criminology Club is an academic forum for students majoring in Sociology-Criminology and Pre-Law to discuss and explore issues related to society and crime as well as obtain information on relevant career opportunities. Club activities in the past have included a career fair, tours of various criminal justice agencies, an overnight ghost hunt at a closed state prison, and a variety of guest speakers, including local and regional criminologists, federal law enforcement agents, and former inmates/ex-offenders.


Today members of the club will be visiting Southeastern Correctional Institution.


Tonight the Sociology-Criminology Club has Athens County Sheriff coming to speak in Bentley hall 140 at 6pm. Everyone is welcome to attend!


Career Services will be giving a presentation tonight at 7:30 p.m. in Bentley 110. Come join us for a fun but educational event!


Better Bystanders will be doing a presentation tonight at 7:30 in Bentley 304. Hope to see you all there!


The Ohio Innocence Project and two recent exonorees will be speaking tomorrow (Feb. 9) in Walter Hall Rotunda from 4-6pm. There will be no regular meeting this week, but this would be a great event for the club to attend together. Please feel free to email Abby Hidy at [email protected] for any questions or concerns.


Tonight is our first meeting of the semester in Bentley 304 from 7:30-8:30 PM. We hope to see you all there!

We will be having a speaker from SEPTA correctional facility coming in to talk about the job. The meeting will be held in room 11 of Bentley Hall at 7:00 pm on Tuesday the 21st. We will also be having some pizza and beverages!

Hey everybody! The Sociology/Criminology Pre-Law Club will be working at Red Brick from 5pm-8pm on Wednesday the 8th! We hope everyone can come out and show their support for the club! Remember we will be making our money off of tips, so please be generous! So invite all your friends and "share" this status that way we can get the word out and make some money! Thanks everybody :)


Our second meeting will be this Tuesday, January 24 at 7 pm in Bentley 011. There will be a guest speaker who is an investigator for workers comp. Please bring your $5 for dues if you haven't paid yet. We hope to see you there!


Today, January 10th will be our first meeting of the new year! We have a guest speaker from the FBI! She will talking about her experiences and answering questions! The meeting is at 7 pm in Bentley Hall, room 011!

Tomorrow Sept. 27th will be our second meeting at 7p.m in Bentley 120. Dr. VanderVen will be coming to speak to the club about different career opportunities, graduate school, and research opportunities you can participate in as an undergraduate student, for our field of interest, Sociology/Criminology.


Hey Everyone, Don't forget about the t-shirt design contest. The soc-crim club needs a new t-shirt design for this year and if your design is picked, you will receive a free t-shirt!! Please be ready to hand in your design at the next meeting, Tuesday September 27th in Bentley 120.


The first meeting will be happening on September 13 (Tuesday), at 7 pm in Bentley room 120. We will be discussing future meetings, possible speakers, fundraisers, club t-shirts, what to expect from the club, and events our club will be doing. After the meeting we will be having a social at Courtside Pizza.
