Always an amazing experience for our students!

Keep an eye on the 72nd cannes film festival 2019 red carpet. You might see one of our study abroad students. In addition to attending screenings of the films before they make their big screen debut, they will hear from prominent film critics, distributors, directors, and producers, and expand their perspectives on global media. PHD Media is a true partner in education and research.

We are grateful for our longtime relationship with PHD Media. For the eighth year, Advertising & Public Relations at UGA had the opportunity to conduct research and share their insights with industry professionals. The team spent six months looking into the media lives of 18- to 25-year-olds, part of the elusive Generation Z and presented in NYC earlier this month.

UGA Crisis Communication Coalition

This year's CCTT's theme, "Sticky Crisis," touches on communicating and accepting uncertainty in a complex media environment. According to Timothy Coombs, "sticky crises demand a careful analysis of the situation and evaluation of one’s options, it is not the time to use the simplistic advice offered as best practices."

Bert Brantley lends some key advice to students!

“Treat your reputation like a company treats its brand” -Bert Brantley

This week, PAC students had the pleasure of hearing from Bert Brantley, COO for the Georgia Department of Economic Development, as part of our PAC Leadership Speaker Series.

Brantley talked to students about what it takes to be a leader, and reminded them of three key points:

1. Work hard, consistently. Stay excited and motivated in the work you do.
2. Be confident in your knowledge and experience, and let that guide your decisions.
3. Be yourself—bring your strengths into your job.

Thank you, Bert, for speaking to PAC students and offering us insight into what successful leadership looks like! @ Grady College of Journalism and Mass Communication, University of Georgia

UGA Orientation

Welcome back to campus! We hope everyone had a great spring break. Today, we’re introducing Melissa Hevener. Melissa is a 2nd year Public Relations and Political Science double major from Manila, Philippines. When reflecting on her major selection, Melissa said, “The Exploratory Center and my advisor invested incredible resources and time into helping me choose my major. It was through club events and organizations on campus that led me to deciding my major.” Melissa’s final words of wisdom to all incoming students is to not give up. She says, “There’s going to be a lot of wonderful and exciting things that will happen your first year on campus, but there will also sometimes be some hardships; not everything has to be fun and peachy all the time and that’s okay. Through everything, as long as you keep your chin up and continue to keep searching for that brighter side, you’re going to have the time of your life.” Follow Melissa’s OL journey on her instagram account, @uga.melissa!
