Phi Alpha Theta - Epsilon Pi

Phi Alpha Theta - Epsilon Pi Epsilon Pi is the University of Georgia's chapter of Phi Alpha Theta, Incorporated. A National History Honor Society.

We see history as milestones that shaped the thoughts and actions of people in a community, as choices that rulers made that defined their reign for either the better or the worse, or as global, political, or religious events that moved entire civilizations.

Mission: Our mission is to encourage the research and discussion of history that will bring forth new ideas. We want to connect the staff and students at the University of Georgia in intellectual and social exchanges.

Isabel was also last year's president of Phi Alpha Theta, and last summer completed an internship in the history department's Public History in Washington DC internship program.👏

Congratulations to Isabel Mann who is completing an internship this summer. Isabel is an honors student earning a BA in History, BA Religion, and MA in History at #uga. Here she is pictured giving a speech to Athens Young Urban Farmers, just last night.
"This summer I interned with the Athens Land Trust and worked with their high school program, the Young Urban Farmers. This program hires local high school students to work at the West Broad community garden and farmer's market as well as provides a variety of educational programs for them. As part of my internship, I researched the history of the West Broad Street School (where the garden and market is located) and created workshops based on the primary sources from my research. Tomorrow is the big day, everyone! This will be the first contested election for our chapter since it's reboot 2 years ago, so needless to say this is an extremely important moment for our society. We implore you to be here at room 101 in LeConte Hall at 5 pm tomorrow to hear the speeches and make your voice heard towards our future. We couldn't have done all we have done so far without your support, and so on behalf of the present Executive Board, we say thank you for all your enthusiasm and participation over the last 2 years. It started with 5 and now we're 50+! Here's to a better community for our study and our passion. In the words of Faulkner, "History is not was, but is." Let us continue to strive with that ideal in mind.

In an unrelated addendum there will be pizza!
