Feeling overwhelmed or stressed by the news, while also trying to continue working at home with family, care for loved ones, and stay healthy? These amazing graduate students in clinical psychology can sympathize.

They authored a COVID-19 Well-Being Guide, which includes a description of symptoms, evidence-based ways to improve mental health and sense of well-being, how to talk to children during the COVID-19 pandemic, and resources for the UGA community and beyond. Great work, Dawgs!

If you're able to give, The Campus Kitchen at UGA could use your support to continue to feed families in the Athens area!

Today is #GivingTuesdayNow, a global call-to-action in response to the unprecedented need caused by COVID-19.

Public Service and Outreach is highlighting the work of The Campus Kitchen at UGA, which is bringing meals to the most vulnerable members in the Athens community. With your help, they can expand delivery to 30% more at-risk individuals.

Kudos to our continuing education team for making these courses on job skills and personal development available for FREE to the public โ€” tell your friends!

We are excited to offer these 10 free job skills and personal improvement courses to the public!

And hey, we're not just employees โ€” we're also clients! Here's what one of our staff in facilities management had to say about the personal finance course:

"This course not only applies to someone who may be young and naive about financial growth & success, but also can expand the knowledge of someone who is well-established and already responsible with their personal finances. I was pleasantly surprised at the broad topics and the depth in which each concept was presented."

Did you know? Dawgs designed the CDCโ€™s COVID-19 graphic. In addition to being alumni of the Lamar Dodd School of Art, Dan Higgins (BFA โ€™93) and Alissa Eckert (BFA โ€™04) are medical illustrators with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in Atlanta.

Helping people visualize the virus isnโ€™t so much about accurately representing what it would look like under a microscope, but more about conveying why it is dangerous. The virus canโ€™t reproduce on its own โ€” it hijacks healthy host cells, and it is these pirated cells that reproduce the virus. The image is intended to visually explain how that occurs.

Let's clear the air! With 33 new electric buses set to be in circulation by 2021, UGA is making the transportation industry a little greener.

Each electric bus not only cuts operational costs from $100 to $5 a day per bus, but also reduces net greenhouse gas emissions by 70% compared to the diesel buses they replace. And with the elimination of tailpipe emissions, surrounding bikers, pedestrians and other travelers also enjoy a cleaner commute.

Small business owners: the University of Georgia Small Business Development Center has scheduled additional webinars for Friday, April 24, about the second round of funding available through the federal CARES (Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security) Act.

These one-hour webinars are scheduled to start at 10 a.m., 1 p.m. and 4 p.m.

More than 10,000 people participated in SBDC webinars when the first round of CARES grants and loans were announced earlier this month. Of the $349 billion available to all U.S. small businesses, $204 million was awarded to 995 businesses in Georgia.

Walt McBride and Mara Shaw are regular guests of ours, and we will miss celebrating their awards with them in person. Remembering good times with these photos from events that were held last year will have to do instead.

Happy Earth Day! It's cool to read about the history of Earth Day celebrations at UGA, and to hear how UGA is working toward a sustainable future (and saving big $$ in the process). ๐ŸŒŽ๐ŸŒ๐ŸŒ๐ŸŒณ

An estimated 3,000-5,000 students and Athens community members turned out for the first Earth Day at UGA, which featured a day-long teach-in led by students and faculty from the Institute of Ecology and student group Balance. โ€œIn this time of environmental crisis both impending and existent, we feel it is necessary that the public be informed in the basic principles of ecology and be made aware of the problems facing the human species in relation to its environment,โ€ the organizers wrote. https://t.uga.edu/5SB

Our annual Admin Professionals Day conference normally fills the Georgia Center with hundreds of energetic Admin Pros from around the state of Georgia. This year's conference went online instead โ€” and in addition to the informative sessions our speakers, a few fun games were added to help participants get to know each other as well as they do when they meet in-person.

A couple of online Bingo sessions were well-attended โ€” here's a snapshot of one of the winners and our own wonderful admin pro, Kristine Garcia, running the game!
