She said this about her study abroad program, “I have dreamed about taking a trip to Australia since I was a little girl, and boy did it live up to my expectations. This trip opened me up to a different way of life and has changed how I live now back in the U.S. I hope to one day end up back over in the land down under!”

Congratulations to Michelle Morguarge for being this years Best Overall Photo! Michelle traveled to Italy with the UGA Cortona program, here is what she had to say about her experience:

“Cortona showed me another world beyond the cultures that I have grown so accustomed to. The sites, the artwork, the history, the scenery, the people. My experience in this town has positively affected my experience in life, and I can’t wait to see what is next, and what else is out there! Very thankful to have had the opportunity to spend time in the town of the Cortonese. Grazie mille.”

Congratulations to our 1st place winner of our Dawgs Abroad category in our Study Away Photo contest, Amanda Heckler! This picture from her UGA en Espana program gave us all the good feels. Read what she has to say about her study abroad experience:

"Over the course of my time in Spain, I was able to visit cities such as Madrid, Sevilla, Granada, as well as places like Amsterdam and Paris on the weekends. Not only did I love improving my Spanish, but the food, the scenes, and the people I met were amazing and I just feel so lucky that I had the opportunity to go, even if it was cut short by COVID-19. If there is anything I learned from that experience it is that life is short, take every opportunity that is given to you, no matter how much work or how expensive- find a way, it will be worth it."

Our 2nd place winner for the Dawgs Abroad category is Caroline Kramer! Have you always thought of Hawaii as just a tropical destination? Think again! Take a look at Caroline's amazing photo taken at Mauna Kea Summit, Hawaii during her trip with Discover Abroad! Here's what she has to say about her experiences:

"Whether I'm traveling in the country or to the other side of the world, "Dawgs Travel" is an expression I am proud to use as I represent the Georgia Bulldawg Nation. It brings me great joy to be an image of this community and I believe it is important to represent the university body to the highest level possible. I value learning about the cultures I visit so I can grow my understanding of the diverse world we live in. I hope that by becoming a global citizen I can serve as a positive representative of the University of Georgia as I continue to experience cultures around the world."

Congrats, Caroline!

Congratulations to our 3rd place winner for the Dawgs Abroad category is Travis Hawkins! Travis spent his spring semester in Cape Town, Africa for his MBA international residence program. Here is what Travis had to say about his time in Africa,
"During the spring semester of the MBA program, I was able to attend the International Residency in Cape Town, South Africa. My group worked all semester for a company named Plentify, which supported the energy sector in South Africa. We helped develop solutions in order to provide power to local business and communities. While we weren't working, we were able to go on the most amazing hikes, explore the beaches, see Robben Island, go on a Africa Safari and try some of the most amazing food. I wouldn't trade the experience for anything and can't wait to go back to that amazing place, I am so thankful to Georgia for the opportunity. Go Dawgs!"

1st place of the People's Choice category for our photo contest goes to Darya Khani! Darya traveled to England during her Discover Abroad program where she got this classic photo taken in the city of Cambridge. Read on about how her study abroad trip impacted the rest of her college career:

"One of the highlights of my college career will definitely be the Discover Abroad program in England and Scotland. In just a short trip of 3 weeks, I was able to immerse myself and broaden my horizons. My experience learning about sustainability in this program grew my interest so much that I now hold a role as the Director of Sustainability on the Student Government at UGA. I will cherish the friendships and memories the summer was filled with and advocate for any student to study abroad!"

Here's what Livia has to say about her experiences:

"I traveled to Central Europe last summer for my international studies magnet program. We visited 6 countries, Hungry, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Austria, Germany, and Switzerland. We spent about two weeks country hopping! After the program was finished, I flew from Lucerne to London with my mom! Happy Friday, everyone! What better way to start your weekend than meeting a fellow UGA student?? Meet Madison Herndon, our student spotlight of the week!

Madison spent 6 weeks exploring Paris while taking communication studies classes with the UGA à Paris program. Here's what she has to say about her study abroad experience:

"There’s really not even words that do this study abroad justice. I didn’t realize how narrow my view of the world was, how much I hadn’t seen, how uneasy it made me feel being in an unfamiliar place speaking an unfamiliar language. I didn’t realize how many incredible people attended the University of Georgia that I had yet to meet. I didn’t realize how many untapped passions I had and how seeing the world brings a part of me alive that I never realized existed. I’m abundantly thankful to attend a University that encourages its students to step outside their comfort zone and explore soil that their feet have never touched before."
