Welcome to The Georgia Way--powered by the University of Georgia Athletic Association! Learn more about our services, student-athletes and their achievements!
The UGA Athletics Student Services has developed many resources to achieve its mission in furthering the educational experience of its Student-Athletes. These services are supported by the UGA Athletic Association in their commitment to serving Student-Athletes. Services available include the Rankin Smith Center, SAAC and L.E.A.D. Rankin M. Smith, Sr. Student-Athlete Academic Center provides the space and cutting-edge resources for all of UGA’s 500-plus student-athletes to achieve their academic goals. Resources at the Rankin Center include: -Tutorial Programs provide student-athletes with academic assistance beyond that which they receive in the classroom. Tutors provide study skills assistance as well as in specific academic areas. -Academic Counselors assist student-athletes to achieve their personal goals by ensuring that they earn a degree and by providing opportunities for personal growth. -Mentoring Programs provide one-on-one academic assistance to student-athletes and helps them determine realistic academic priorities and goals. This is accomplished through the personal relationships the mentors develop with the individual student-athlete. -The Athletic Department Writing Center is an invaluable resource created through a partnership between the UGA English Department and the UGAA Student Services. The ADWC provides tutorial assistance with the Freshmen English courses, as well as preparation for the Regent’s Exam. -The Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) is made up of student-athletes from every sport to provide a voice for all student-athletes. This group serves as a liaison between student-athletes and the Athletic Association administration. -The L.E.A.D. program was initiated to encourage leadership development in UGA’s most promising student-athletes. L.E.A.D. will assist the student-athletes by reviewing each student-athlete’s current community service, campus involvement and academic and athletic credentials; providing resources to improve deficient areas; explaining the award nomination processes and providing biographical information on past winners; and assisting with preparation for graduate school.
