UGA Student Veterans Resource Center

UGA Student Veterans Resource Center The go-to location for Student Veterans at the University of Georgia.

Founded in spring 2013, the Student Veterans Resource Center (SVRC) serves as a central location for information about the university’s services for student veterans while also offering support, advocacy and a convenient location for student veterans to gather throughout the day. The center is located on the fourth level of the Tate Student Center. The center’s strength lies in its established relationships with almost every office at UGA and with many service organizations across the region. The SVRC markets these services while keeping student veterans informed through weekly communications. SVRC provides a convenient point of contact for student veterans, a service desk staffed by veterans, an evolving network of partnerships working to improve services and programs, a comfortable lounge, and a community for student veterans. A range of diverse opportunities enables student veterans to meaningfully engage with the University and the surrounding community.

Mission: To position student veterans for success, the SVRC serves as the go-to location for sensemaking, wayfinding and entry into the array of services available through the university/community, while also offering wide-ranging support and advocacy.

Eric Martin is one of our high-performing student veterans pursuing a degree in Art. He is working on a mural nearing completion to be presented to the SVRC later this summer.

Eric describes the piece as representing "the importance of remembering those we have lost, the honor of service to our country, and the perseverance and dedication to self-improvement through higher education of student veterans." Instagram @vetart87

Let's congratulate Eric on his great work!

We're honoring a man who experienced people being treat as less than human and had the courage to stand up and say "this is wrong." He paid the ultimate price for his courage, but because of his courage, change happened. Start tomorrow back with a short week, and happy MLK day!

Dawg Nation, it's hump day. Check it out: tomorrow is the Veterans Reception in the Tate Student Center just outside the SVRC office. It starts at 16:00 and goes until about 17:30. If you're not receiving an award, then the preferred dress is business casual. THERE WILL BE FREE FOOD. There's also going to be a drawing for a UGA mini football helmet signed by Coach Kirby Smart, but you HAVE TO BE THERE to win, and the pool for the drawing is already chosen from those that submitted their photos for the Veteran's Appreciation Week and display on the Jumbotron. ALSO: we have received free tickets to distribute to the veterans for the game against Kentucky, but you HAVE TO BE THERE to sign up for the tickets. Bottom line? BE THERE!!! GO DAWGS!
