The Student Human Rights Task Force is established this August 11, 2015, as a non-profit, non-partisan group dedicated to educating all persons about human rights, and to supporting and advancing human rights in the local community. This Student Human Rights Task Force shall work in cooperation with all persons of good faith in protecting and advancing student human rights consistent with the United Nations Universal Declaration of Human Rights. Specifically, we affirm our commitment to the principles of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights: Whereas recognition of the inherent dignity and of the equal and inalienable rights of all members of the human family is the foundation of freedom, justice and peace in the world, Whereas disregard and contempt for human rights have resulted in barbarous acts which have outraged the conscience of mankind, and the advent of a world in which human beings shall enjoy freedom of speech and belief and freedom from fear and want has been proclaimed as the highest aspiration of the common people, Whereas it is essential, if man is not to be compelled to have recourse, as a last resort, to rebellion against tyranny and oppression, that human rights should be protected by the rule of law, Whereas it is essential to promote the development of friendly relations between nations, Whereas the peoples of the United Nations have in the Charter reaffirmed their faith in fundamental human rights, in the dignity and worth of the human person and in the equal rights of men and women and have determined to promote social progress and better standards of life in larger freedom, Whereas Member States have pledged themselves to achieve, in co-operation with the United Nations, the promotion of universal respect for and observance of human rights and fundamental freedoms, Whereas a common understanding of these rights and freedoms is of the greatest importance for the full realization of this pledge, Now, Therefore THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY proclaims THIS UNIVERSAL DECLARATION OF HUMAN RIGHTS as a common standard of achievement for all peoples and all nations, to the end that every individual and every organ of society, keeping this Declaration constantly in mind, shall strive by teaching and education to promote respect for these rights and freedoms and by progressive measures, national and international, to secure their universal and effective recognition and observance, both among the peoples of Member States themselves and among the peoples of territories under their jurisdiction. With this Universal Declaration in mind, we the members of this Student Human Rights Task Force “shall strive by teaching and education to promote respect for these rights and freedoms” through local education and support activities promoting human rights and freedoms, and through these activities, to improve the quality of life in our community for all persons, so that all persons, no matter what their status, beliefs, or conditions, may live in peace and mutual respect in our community, and that our community may become a model for other communities in living in peace and mutual respect under the just rule of law.

The SHRTF stands with Indiana Hillel and the Jewish community. This DOES NOT reflect the values of Indiana University. And now Indiana University officials need to make that clear to everyone:
"Three Jewish students were badly beaten by a group of 11 men at Indiana University. The attackers were members of the local Pi Kappa Phi fraternity. The three Jewish students suffered concussions as a result of the assault. Indiana Hillel spokesperson: Pi Kappa Phi has been placed on cease and desist by the IU Office of Student Conduct."

Greta Thunberg and other students are suing major carbon producing nations for violations of the UN Conventions on the Rights of the Child.

UNITED NATIONS—On Monday, Greta Thunberg and 15 other young people filed a potentially world-changing lawsuit. Freedom of speech is a core human right. And freedom of the Press is essential to democracy. This is a very dangerous development that threatens both human rights and democracy. The SHRTF condemns these politically motivated personal attacks on journalists clearly intended to silence their speech and to politically manipulate Press coverage through intimidation. This is not how a democratically elected government acts, and it is a clear violation of the Constitution and necessary democratic norms.

A loose network of conservative operatives allied with the White House is pursuing what they say will be an aggressive operation to discredit news organizations deemed hostile to President Trump by publicizing damaging information about journalists.
