Winford were the 2020 recipients of the award for their historical accounts exploring how higher education and the banking industry have influenced civil rights. You can read more about these men and their work here: https://news.uga.edu/lillian-smith-book-awards-2020/

Congratulations to our graduates!

While recent events have kept us away from each other, they have not kept us from making music. Please join us in congratulating the class of 2020 in this tremendous video, which was conceived, performed, and produced entirely by members of the graduating class and arranged by senior Cameron Gwynn. We applaud their artistry, creative spirit, and perseverance in these times, and we can’t wait to follow their careers as they make a difference in the world. Go Dawgs! #UGAgrad #UGA20

Paws and Relax Pet Parade Therapy dogs and final post

We hope that you enjoyed our Virtual Paws and Relax Pet Parade. Congratulations! You’re at the finish line on this last day of finals!

Our photos and videos throughout the week have been provided through UGA Libraries employees, and therapy dog group members, who would normally come to campus during finals. Today’s posts focus on the participating therapy dogs. See below for more about our final group of Therapy Dogs highlighted today!

Thank you!

Human(s) & Therapy Dog(s)

Linda & Rosie
Rosie is a 2-year-old golden Doodle who would say "If you think you can, or you think you can’t – you’re probably right.” Rosie is registered with Alliance of Therapy Dogs and is part of the K9 Angels group. Rosie is a therapy dog with her human, Linda, at cardiology care clinic and lifestyle medicine at Lake Oconee.

Merilee & Cari
Cari is an English Black Lab, registered nationally with Intermountain Therapy Animals. Cari says “I would love to study with you. I’m really good at reading, but I speak “dog” - do you?” We miss the opportunity to visit with you and hear all your great dog stories. Merilee runs the local TPC and READing Paws group - we go to schools, libraries and bookstores where kids (young and old) come and READ to Cari!.”

Nancy & Gus and Jake
Gus is an 11-year-old certified therapy dog with the Alliance of Therapy Dogs and has participated in finals week the past two years. Gus's favorite thing to do is to find Smiles! Gus hopes as he messaged you today that you have found your own smile. WOOF!

Jake is a 5-year-old Golden Retriever. He desires to be a therapy dog like his brother, but right now he is all about partying. Jake has the funniest expressions and wows people with his Golden garble talking. Jake and his older brother Gus, are best buddies and they are the Ying and Yang duo.

Suzy & Yogi and Ripken
My name is Yogi, as in Yogi Berra, and I get my beautiful golden color from eating Goldfish every chance I can. My brother Cal Ripken and I love to dive off the dock and swim. Hope you all get to go swim after exams. Good luck, study hard and jump in the lake when you are done🐾🐾 We are registered with Alliance of Therapy Dogs and also work at Jasper Elementary reading with the kids on Thursdays. Pup hugs, Ripken & Yogi

Tanya Kingsley & Luna and Sadie
Luna: I was wondering why we can't come see you, but my person Tanya told us about the virus. so we go for lots of runs and go play in the creek. I also like to sleep in the laundry basket. My cuz Sadie is the quiet one. She is also a yellow lab 8 years old and is a rescue. Since we can't visit schools or nursing homes we have learned how to sniff out certain scents and love it. We love doing the nose work! We belong to Alliance of Therapy Dogs. We hope you all do really great in your tests and hope to see you soon. We love and miss you all. Love Luna, Sadie and of course Tanya (our driver and caregiver)

Pet Parade - Therapy Dogs 2

We hope that you enjoyed our Virtual Paws and Relax Pet Parade. Congratulations! You’re at the finish line on this last day of finals!

Our photos and videos throughout the week have been provided through UGA Libraries employees, and therapy dog group members, who would normally come to come to campus during finals. Today’s posts focus on the participating therapy dogs. See below for more about this second group of Therapy Dogs highlighted today!

Human(s) & Therapy Dog(s)

Jeff & Earl
Earl’s focus is on people’s mental health. He works as a psychiatric service dog and teaches seminars with his human on the importance of mental health, and how animals can be a part of it. Earl is a 7-year-old Golden Retriever that "grins". Earl says “I would still like pets, but my person wants you to use hand sanitizer first :)” Jeff says “Good luck on finals! Don't forget to breathe and get outside and be easy on yourself.” Earl and his person are @Gofetchwellness. And we are UGA alumni, Go Dawgs!!

Jessica & Aussie
Aussie is part of the K9 Angels group and is registered with Alliance of Therapy Dogs Aussie has visited the Miller Learning Center for past years of Paws and Relax.

JoAnne & Shaonia
Shaonia is registered with Alliance of Therapy Dogs, Shaonia wants to say HI to everyone. She wishes students the best and wants to remind them to rela### :).

Kathy & Maizie, Ivor and Lola
Maizie is with Alliance of Therapy Dogs, and is a Georgia hound dog/ lab mix who loves to do tricks. Her favorite thing to do is run in the woods and chase squirrels up trees. The thrill of the chase is its own reward. Ivor is a Lab/Golden and canine companions for independence puppy in training. Ivor is working hard so he can be the best service dog he can be. My advice is to take time to put things in perspective in this time of upheaval. In the big picture, long run, what’s really important to you, what will matter? Take care all! Lola, Ivor, Maizie and Kathy

Lacy & Samson Lee
Samson is a 4-year-old Golden Retriever. Favorite hobby: making people smile, and getting lots of belly rubs. Samson Lee is a fun, lovable ball of fur. Samson Lee wants to remind students that self-care is important. Remember to take breaks while studying, go outside, stretch your legs, and start again ready to conquer that final!
