The 12th Annual Community Engagement Day brought our Morehouse School of Medicine family and Atlanta-area community together for a day of health, wellness and collective action. With free health screenings and flu vaccines, 65 health and wellness vendors, community resources, giveaways and live entertainment, the day celebrated what’s possible when we come together to support healthier communities.

Thank you to everyone who joined us and helped bring this year’s theme to life: “Rooted in Community: Advancing Health, Elevating Hope and Igniting Collective Action.” Together, we’re building healthier communities and advancing health justice.

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, a time to highlight the importance of early detection and access to breast cancer screening. 💗

The Atrium Health Navicent Mobile 3D Screening Mammography Coach recently visited Morehouse School of Medicine, bringing convenient breast cancer screening directly to campus.

The mobile unit offered 3D mammography screenings performed by registered mammography technologists using state-of-the-art equipment. Grant funding was also available for eligible uninsured and underinsured individuals.

If you’re due for your annual mammogram, make time for your health and talk with your healthcare provider about your screening options.

💙 As we close out Prostate Cancer Awareness Month, we’re reflecting on a day centered on community, prevention and the importance of knowing your health.

Morehouse School of Medicine’s Prostate Cancer Precision Prevention Program (PCP3) recently joined the Men of Mt. Ephraim Baptist Church for Game On for Good Health, providing free prostate cancer screenings and connecting community members with information about early detection and prostate cancer risk.

Thank you to the Men of Mt. Ephraim Baptist Church, our partners and everyone who participated in making this community event possible. The conversation around prostate health doesn’t have to end with September.
