#TBT from Georgia Tech Archives: Did you know that Georgia Tech contains four arboretums?

The Tech Green, Central Campus, Hill, and Hemphill & IC Lawn arboretums contain trees and plants used not only to beautify campus, but to serve as educational tools for teaching and research. These spaces contain many species native to Georgia, as well as others imported from Japan, China, Europe, and other regions of the United States.

As of 2016, there were more than 12,000 trees on campus with more than 4 million square feet of canopy cover.

Visit the Georgia Tech Archives & Special Collections to learn more about the history and development of these arboretums.

Tech Rewind Tuesday (brought to you by retroTECH): One of the best-selling gaming and popular consoles, the NES (Nintendo Entertainment System) changed the US video game industry after the North American video game crash of 1983.

Released in North America on Oct. 18, 1985 and priced at $149.95, it came with two controllers, Super Mario Bros., Duck Hunt, and a NES Zapper for Duck Hunt.

Pictured is a commercial for Battle Toads, one of the more popular games on NES (also, a pretty blatant Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles rip-off). We're not sure if there exists a more early 90's piece of nostalgia.

Stop by the retroTECH Lab, inside the Data Viz Lab on the 3rd floor of Crosland Tower to check out the NES. Visit our website, http://www.library.gatech.edu/retrotech for lab hours!
