The Augusta University (formerly Georgia Regents University) College of Education offers teacher education undergraduate programs leading to certification in: Early Childhood Education, Middle Grades Education, Secondary Secondary , and P-12 (Foreign Language Education (French or Spanish), Health and Physical Education, Music Education, and Special Education). The College of Education offers MAT programs designed for career changers. A Master of Arts in Teaching degree can be earned in the following areas: Early Childhood Education, Middle Grades Education, Secondary Biology Education, Secondary Chemistry Education, Secondary History Education, Secondary Math Education, Secondary Physics Education, Secondary English Education, Secondary Political Science Education, Foreign Language Education (French or Spanish), Health and Physical Education, Music Education, and Special Education. Master's programs are offered in Curriculum and Instruction, Counselor Education, Educational Leadership and Teacher Leadership. An Educational Specialist degree is offered in Curriculum and Instruction, Educational Leadership, and Counselor Education. We also offer an Educational Doctorate in Educational Innovation.

Randy LaMons, an M.Ed. in Counseling student in the Augusta University College of Education, has partnered with a long-time friend to create a scholarship and mentoring program for graduating seniors at their alma mater, Grovetown High School. They’re doing it through their new organization, the Be the Change Foundation.

Veterans find new careers through Troops to Teachers program at Augusta University

The Augusta University College of Education, in concert with the U.S. Army and Fort Gordon, participates in a program called Troops to Teachers. This nationwide program, which was initially established in 1993, assists military personnel and veterans who are interested in pursuing a new career in teaching. Since 1993, more than 21,000 veterans have successfully transitioned to a career in education. STUDENTS & ALUMNI: The Augusta University College of Education is leading two study abroad trips this year, one for either education or kinesiology students that is heading to Ireland and one for education students that will be jetting to Taiwan. Dr. Beth Cracraft Murray Pendergraft and Dr. Hannah Bennett will lead education and kinesiology students to Ireland, including stops in Dublin, Galway, Killarney, and Dromoland; while Dr. Nai-Cheng Kuo will guide students through her home country of Taiwan, with stops in Taoyuan, Yunlin County, Nantou City, the capital city of Taipei, and Taichung City. Leading students on international experiences is both a gift and a responsibility, and we are grateful to our faculty for choosing to pursue study abroad opportunities.

The deposit deadline for these trips is Dec. 6, and the scholarship application deadline is Dec. 11.
