Congratulations to Kimberlynn Ellspermann who will be completing the requirements for a Bachelor of General Studies degree from William Carey University this week. Kimberlynn is from Bay Saint Louis. She says, "My biggest accomplishment isn't the degree itself. It's the patience, strength, and knowledge that I've gained along the way. It's the self-motivation that got me through being a mother of two babies, a full-time student, a small business owner, and a full-time employee all at one time. William Carey University has been a great support system throughout my degree path and I am more than thankful for the opportunity to graduate from such a reputable university. My current goal is to use the knowledge I’ve obtained to begin my career as a Financial Advisor in the Greater Biloxi area."

Congratulations, Kimberlynn!

Did you know...

According to the US Bureau of Labor Statistics, the overall employment of radiologic and MRI technologists is projected to grow 7 percent from 2019 to 2029, faster than the average for all occupations.

That WILL ALSO require more RT educators and managers to train more RTs and run radiology departments and practices. **We can help prepare you to be part of this big growth with our Bachelor of Science in Health Administration & Education degree program.**

Corey Kately, a 2009 graduate of the School of Business at William Carey University, began his career as a crew member at Hattiesburg's Raising Cane's Chicken Fingers in 2006 while he was attending the university.

Since his initial employment, he has received several promotions including shift manger, NRO (New Restuarant Opening) Trainer, NRO Captain, Operations Manager, NRO Lead, and most recently, an Area Leader of Training. During his NRO days, he experienced a lot of firsts. He was part of opening the first locations in Tennessee, Oregon, Kuwait and Bahrain. In his current position as the Area Leader of Training for the St. Louis, Missouri, market, he is responsible for overseeing the training systems and development of Crew Members and Managers. He also assists with company roll outs and initiatives for St. Louis.

When asked about his experience at WCU, Corey says, "My education at WCU taught me how to communicate at a higher level. It also taught me how to understand business and how to implement processes that increase efficiencies."

On a personal note, Corey adds, "It took me a long time to learn of the power there is in peace. During my career, I had a lot of different Leaders who all expected different things out of me. With the changes in Leadership, there was a sense of chaos. Eventually, I learned to be the calm in the storm for my team. Being someone else’s peace comes with a sense of pride and fulfillment.
Even though it takes grit and grind to climb the ladder, being kind and calm does more to build strong teams. No one can be successful on their own. Many people will play some role in our journeys. Because of that, there are two things that I constantly remind myself: 'It’s not about being right, it’s about doing right' and 'Always try to be nice, never fail to be kind'."

Congratulations to Corey on his recent promotion and career success!

Congratulations to our very own Dr. Olivia C. Burkett, Professor of Psychology, on her international publication! The study is titled: “An International Study on the Acceptability of Three Interventions for Common Behavioral Challenges Experienced by Children with Autism Spectrum Disorder: Caregivers’ Perspectives.” Gavin Publishers published Dr. Burkett’s study in the International Journal of Autism & Related Disabilities (IJARD) on December 3, 2020.
Dr. Burkett developed a keen interest in Autism Spectrum Disorder (in 1995) while studying to attain her doctorate degree. Her compassion for those affected by Autism Spectrum Disorder compelled her to travel the globe to gather data from 842 participants in eight different countries spanning six continents: Dubai, Mexico, Sweden, Jordan, Brazil, South Africa, Australia, and the states of Mississippi, Michigan, Indiana, Texas and Hawaii in the USA. Dr. Burkett plans to continue her international studies and ministry of Autism Spectrum Disorder because she believes we must “expect great things from God, and attempt great things for God.”
