The Krulak Institute provides Birmingham-Southern College students with opportunities to learn outside the traditional classroom and to engage the world around them. The centers and programs housed there aim to help young people develop the necessary intellectual, professional, cultural, and leadership skills to excel in an increasingly complex environment. The institute also supports faculty rese

arch and development, campus speakers, student travel, community partnerships, and other programming focused on applied and experiential learning and the practice of leadership in our community. The Krulak Institute is named for BSC's 13th president, General Charles C. Krulak, who dedicated 35 years of his life to the military, including as 31st Commandant of the U.S. Upon his retirement from that post, he took on leadership roles in banking, sports management, and corporate government. In his four years at BSC, he dedicated himself to developing young men and women of character by providing students opportunities for hands-on education and leadership experience, all while working to build a thriving community.
