Commonwealth University campuses and offices will be closed on Friday, June 19, in observance of Juneteenth.

Also known as Freedom Day, Juneteenth commemorates June 19, 1865, when enslaved African Americans in Galveston, Texas, were informed of their freedom, more than two years after the Emancipation Proclamation was issued.

As we observe this important day, we reflect on our shared history and reaffirm our commitment to equity, inclusion, and justice.
