This month’s President’s Choice Award is proudly presented to Kim Miller, an exceptional educator, scholar, leader, and servant whose commitment to excellence continues to inspire those around her.

For 34 years, Kimberly has dedicated her career to serving students and families of the Blytheville School District. Beginning as a paraprofessional, she has advanced through roles including Behavior Interventionist, Music Instructor, and now Special Educator, demonstrating an unwavering commitment to student success. She also serves as Assistant Program Director for the Blytheville School District Tenaris Program, helping provide educational opportunities and resources for young people in the community.

A lifelong learner, Kimberly has achieved remarkable academic success. She received an educator scholarship from Tenaris, earned a Merit Award for outstanding academic achievement from the Strong-Turner Alumni Chapter of Arkansas State University, maintained a 4.0 GPA during the last two years of her Bachelor of Arts degree, and graduated with honors. She has also been recognized by the THEA Foundation, featured in Sugar Ditch Communication, and received a DonorsChoose award to enhance educational opportunities for her students.

During the 2024–2025 school year, she served as Parent Involvement Coordinator for Blytheville Elementary School, further strengthening the connection between families and schools. Her pursuit of excellence continues as she prepares to earn her Master of Arts in Teaching with an emphasis in Special Education this December.

Her dedication has not gone unnoticed. During Black History Month, she was recognized at Blytheville Middle School as a Divine Nine member for her contributions, leadership, and positive influence within the school community.

As an AKA legacy initiated in 2022, Kimberly has embraced the opportunity to serve with passion and purpose. She has served on the Arkansas Founders’ Day Logistics Committee, as a hostess for the Arkansas Cluster Retreat, and on several chapter committees, including Pink Goes Red, Courtesy, Empower Our Families, and Uplift Our Local Community. She has also represented the chapter as an elected delegate.

The June President’s Choice Award recipient exemplifies the spirit of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated® through her commitment to scholarship, service, leadership, and sisterhood. Her passion for uplifting others, advancing education, and serving her community is a true testament to her heart for helping others.

It is with deep admiration, appreciation, and the utmost pride that we recognize Kimberly Miller as the June President’s Choice Award recipient. Congratulations! 💚

This month’s President’s Choice Award honors an individual who truly embodies kindness, generosity, and a genuine willingness to learn and serve others. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration and a Master of Science in Business Technology, both from ASU. In addition, she has earned a 4-12 teaching license in Business Technology, reflecting her strong commitment to education and student success.

Her professional experience includes serving at ANC as a Program Coordinator for TRIO, University Center Coordinator, and Administrative Specialist I. She has also shared her expertise as a Statistics Instructor at ASU. Currently, she serves as a CTE
Instructor for grades 10-12 and as an ACT Proctor at BHS. Her dedication has been recognized through her participation in the Blytheville Leadership Institute. She actively invests in the community and the Blytheville School District. While she was employed at ANC, she helped sponsor the Lifeline Student Club and is currently serving as a sponsor for FBLA and the National Honor Society at BHS. She is also responsible at BHS for organizing the Blood Drive that occurs three times a year.

Within the chapter, she serves as EAF Chairman and Treasurer of the Pearls of Promise and Purpose Chapter Foundation. She is also an engaged member of several committees, including Debutante, Sisterly Relations, Strengthening Our Sisterhood, Uplift Our Local Community, and Empower Our Families.

Guided by her favorite Scripture, Psalms 23:1, “The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want .” She leads with faith, compassion, and a servant’s heart. Her consistent service, leadership, and uplifting spirit make her a truly deserving recipient of this honor. Let’s give it up for May’s President’s Choice Awardee, none other than Candice M. Richardson.

Taking care of yourself is not a luxury it’s a necessity. When we prioritize our well-being, we strengthen our ability to show up for our families, our communities, and one another.

The Ladies of Lambda Sigma Omega are proud to emphasize the connection between mental and physical wellness. This spotlight highlights Cyntwynet Hopkins, LMSW, a dedicated professional who has spent over 20 years supporting individuals on their journey toward healthier, more balanced lives.

Mental wellness involves being intentional about managing stress, seeking support when needed, and building emotional strength. Physical wellness complements this by keeping our bodies active, energized, and strong. One simple yet powerful way to nurture both is through movement especially dancing.

Dance offers more than just enjoyment it encourages energy, improves coordination, supports heart health, and creates a natural outlet for stress. It allows us to release, reset, and reconnect with ourselves in a meaningful way.

When we make wellness a priority, we don’t just improve our own lives we enhance our capacity to serve others with compassion, strength, and purpose.

The Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated®, Lambda Sigma Omega Chapter recognizes National Immunization Week (April 24–30) and the importance of protecting our families and communities through informed health decisions.

As we continue to live out our theme, Live Well, Serve Well, we are reminded that wellness includes prevention, education, and advocacy.

Featuring insight from LaDonna Finch, MD, Family Medicine, this week’s wellness message encourages us to make our child’s wellness a priority and to take time to research and make informed decisions for our families.

Her wellness tip:
Stay informed, ask questions, and partner with trusted healthcare providers to make the best choices for you and your loved ones.

When we prioritize prevention and education, we empower healthier communities and a stronger future.

💗💚 Generation Next | Wellness Spotlight 💚💗

The Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated®, Lambda Sigma Omega Chapter highlights the importance of understanding high blood pressure also known as the “silent killer.”

As we embrace our theme, Live Well, Serve Well, we are reminded that nearly half of adults are affected by high blood pressure, often without noticeable symptoms.

Featuring insight from Laura Mumphrey, BSN RN, she encourages us to take small but impactful steps toward better health:
• Lower sodium intake
• Incorporate more fruits and vegetables
• Stay active with daily movement and make intentional choices each day that support your heart health because prevention and consistency are key.

When we prioritize our physical health, we strengthen our ability to serve with purpose, energy, and longevity.
