Delta Theta Tau, Inc. is a national women's organization dedicated to the advancement of philanthropy and charity. Founded in 1903 by five high school girls in Muncie, Indiana, the members of the chapters and alumnae associations give enthusiastic leadership and service to their communities. The Alpha Omega Chapter in Brazil, IN was chartered in 1924. Our fundraisers include a spring Taste Treat L

uncheon, selling hanging flower baskets for Mother's Day, the Delt Dash 5K, and hand-made cheeseballs just in time for Thanksgiving. All the money raised during our fundraisers go to help individuals, families, and organizations in the Clay County area. During 2014 we provided assistance to the Humane Society, Food Pantry, St. Vincent ER, Serving on the Streets (S.O.S.), House of Hope and CRADLES. We also donated to various local projects including Habitat for Humanity, Rachel Jones Benefit, Hunter Harrison Scholarship Fund, Kids Klothes Kloset, Community Theatre, Mission Trips, YMCA's Strong Kids Campaign, Hoosier Girls State, Clay County Parent Bereavement Support Group and Northview's "We Wish You Well" program. Delta Theta Tau also offers the Lucia Pierce Math Education Scholarship which is given in memory of Lucia Pierce who was a charter member of the chapter and a high school math teacher for many years. Applicants must be pursuing a degree in math education. To be a sister, ask a sister!

Patti Foxx of Delta Theta Tau was proud to present a check this week in support of Girl Scout Troop #2249. 💚

There is something especially meaningful about philanthropic women supporting young ladies who are learning, leading, serving, and making a difference in their own community.

When women invest in girls, they’re not just supporting them today—they’re helping inspire the next generation of women who will continue the tradition of giving back and making an impact. 💕✨

We are proud to support these young ladies and all they are doing to make our community a better place! Girl power, community spirit, and a whole lot of heart! 💚🫶

Tonight we gathered for a sister and surprised her with her 65 year award and a gift of rose earrings we found at National Convention!

Janice Modesitt is being honored for an extraordinary milestone—65 years of active membership in Delta Theta Tau. A dedicated member of the Alpha Omega Chapter in Brazil, Indiana, Janice was initiated on November 21, 1961, and has remained a steady, loving presence within the sorority ever since.
Throughout her six and a half decades of service, Janice has held nearly every chapter office and led numerous committees, always offering her time, skills, and encouragement wherever needed. She remained a regular attendee of both national and province conventions for many years, participating fully until travel became more challenging. Her commitment to Delta Theta Tau has been a constant in her life, and her service as an active member is one of her greatest sources of pride.

Janice’s influence also extends to her family. Her daughter, Michelle, followed in her footsteps and has been an active member for 39 years—an example of how deeply Janice’s love for the sorority has shaped those around her. She is also a devoted mother to Marci and Marla, and a proud grandmother and great-grandmother many times over.

Beyond her sorority work, Janice spent 40 plus years serving others as a nurse before retiring. She continues to enrich her community by helping organize the Power of the Community event for Success by Six, church choir and supporting the local singing group, Melody Makers. Her kindness, dedication, and spirit of service make her a beloved sister and friend.

Janice’s 65 years of active membership stand as a remarkable testament to loyalty, leadership, and a lifelong commitment to the values of Delta Theta Tau. She is deeply cherished, and her legacy continues to inspire those fortunate enough to know her.
