The SDSU NAMA Club had an incredible week at the National Agri-Marketing Association Conference in St. Louis 🌱

From networking with industry professionals to sharpening our communication skills, this experience was one to remember. Their team also took on the marketing competition, where they presented their product, SpraySense—an innovative device designed to detect airborne chemical drift in greenhouses, helping protect crops and support organic certification.

So proud of the hard work, creativity, and professionalism our team brought to the national stage šŸ‘

From Dhaka, Bangladesh, MD Sazzad Sarker’s journey is a powerful example of determination, passion, and global impact šŸ‘

Throughout his graduate experience, Sazzad has valued the strong support system around him, from approachable professors to friendships that made his program feel like a second home, even nearly 8,000 miles away. His coursework has blended real-world application with classroom learning, giving him the opportunity to tackle industry challenges firsthand including earning a bronze award in a supply chain case competition.

His passion for research is driving meaningful work in the field, studying how geopolitical risk and global supply chain pressures impact U.S. port activity and firm efficiency. Through this work, he’s helping uncover how global events shape real-world business operations.

Inspired by a lifelong dream of earning a doctoral degree, Sazzad plans to pursue a Ph.D. and one day join academia by teaching, mentoring students, and contributing to impactful research in supply chain management and geopolitical risk.

We’re proud to celebrate Sazzad and all of our graduate students this week—your resilience, ambition, and drive to make a difference inspire us every day šŸŒāœØ

Graduate Student Appreciation Week is all about recognizing the dedication, balance, and ambition our students bring every day and Abby Gilk is a great example of just that šŸ‘

From Redwood Falls to South Dakota State University, Abby is building a strong foundation for her future through her studies in business, finance, and economics.

She enjoys learning about topics she’ll use directly in her career, while also gaining knowledge in areas outside her field, understanding how both can shape her success as a professional.

With the flexibility of her program, Abby has been able to continue working while earning her degree and gain valuable experience along the way.

After graduation, she plans to pursue a career as a financial advisor, helping others navigate their financial futures with confidence.

We’re proud to celebrate Abby and all of our graduate students this week—your commitment and drive inspire us every day šŸ’¼āœØ

Continuing Graduate Student Appreciation Week by celebrating the driven, innovative grad students who make our community thrive šŸ‘

Meet Emmanuel Amassah Kpodo. All the way from Sogakope, Ghana, Emmanuel is now making an impact at South Dakota State University.

Emmanuel’s favorite part of his program? The people and the opportunities. From supportive, approachable professors who truly invest in student success to hands-on experiences like the Bloomberg Terminal Lab, he’s able to connect classroom learning directly to real-world financial markets.

His passion for pushing boundaries shows through his research, where he’s exploring how machine learning can transform finance—enhancing analysis, decision-making, and prediction beyond traditional methods.

Inspired by his background in actuarial science at Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology and a desire to dive deeper into the intersection of economics and technology, Emmanuel chose to continue his education in the U.S. to grow both academically and professionally on an international stage.

After graduation, he plans to pursue a Ph.D. in Financial Economics—continuing to advance research and make a meaningful impact in the field.

We’re proud to celebrate Emmanuel and ALL of our graduate students this week—your curiosity, ambition, and innovation are shaping the future šŸ“ˆāœØ
