Did you know? 🏛️

Harding Hall was built in 1954 as a men’s residence hall, and today, it’s home to the Ness School of Management & Economics!

The brick entrance you see in this photo is actually part of the original entrance to Harding Hall. A little piece of SDSU history that’s still here today!

Success in business starts with understanding how every piece fits together.

Today we’re highlighting Jayla Murphy, a sophomore majoring in Business Economics with a minor in Marketing, who is interning as an Operations & Analysis Intern at 5th & Main Furniture & Ashley Furniture by Freed’s. From sales and inventory management to marketing and business analysis, Jayla is gaining experience across multiple areas of retail while seeing firsthand how strong teamwork keeps a business moving forward.

Her advice to fellow students “Apply! Nothing can go wrong by just applying, have confidence in yourself and your abilities. I almost didn’t apply because I was scared, and I am so happy I went for it.”

Strong communities are built on relationships and that's exactly where meaningful careers begin.

This week, we're featuring Ethan James, an Agricultural Business major with minors in Banking and Financial Services and Land Valuation/Rural Real Estate, who is interning at BankNorth. By learning from every department across the bank, Ethan is gaining a well-rounded understanding of community banking while discovering how teamwork and strong customer relationships help local businesses and agricultural producers succeed.

His advice to fellow students is to get involved beyond the classroom. The experiences, leadership opportunities, and connections you build through clubs and organizations can be just as valuable as what you learn in class.

Whether it's finance, agriculture, marketing, or management, Ness School internships give students the opportunity to explore careers, build professional skills, and make a lasting impact.
