Association of Harvard Latinx Faculty and Staff The Association of Harvard Latinx Faculty and Staff (AHLFS) was founded in 2009, through grassroots efforts.

AHLFS was established to promote, support and advance the needs and goals of Latinx faculty and staff at Harvard University. The Association of Harvard Latino Faculty and Staff is dedicated to articulating, supporting and promoting the needs and goals of the Latino community at Harvard University by acting as an influential channel of communication to address issues impacting the Latino community

at Harvard. Campus Diversity
-Increase the presence of Latino Faculty and staff at Harvard University.
-Support the retention and promotion of existing Latino Faculty and staff. Achievements
-Highlight the scholarly and administrative achievements of Latino faculty, staff, fellows and students at Harvard University. Connections
-Work with Campus groups to help make Harvard resources more visible to Latinos within as well as outside of the Harvard Community. Social Networking
-Create opportunities for Latinos at Harvard to form connections in an informal setting.

"About a quarter of adults say they have personally experienced discrimination or unfair treatment from other Latinos. Having darker skin and being born outside the United States are associated with an increased chance of experiencing this type of discrimination, according to a Pew Research Center survey conducted in March 2021."

This past January, Priscila Coronado (Harvard Law 2023) made history when she was elected the 136th president of the Harvard Law Review by her peers. She became the first Latina to hold the position at the independent student-run journal.

She is the daughter of Mexican immigrants and told Harvard Law Today that her background helped shape her perspective on the law, but cautions that she does not want her achievement to be “morph[ed] into some kind of ‘model minority’ narrative.”
