A PERSONAL MESSAGE FROM MY HEART ❤️
For the past three days, I have been hospitalized, taking time to listen, reflect, meditate, and pay attention to what my mind, body, and spirit are telling me.
Today is especially bittersweet. Since becoming an elected official, I have never missed the first day of early voting. Being present, engaging with our community, and participating in the democratic process have always meant so much to me.
But today, I am reminded of something equally important: You cannot continue pouring into others while neglecting yourself.
Campaigning, serving, leading, and carrying the responsibilities that come with public service can sometimes become overwhelming. We often encourage others to take care of themselves while forgetting that we must do the same.
To everyone who has not yet made it to the polls, I encourage you to exercise your right to vote. Your voice matters, and your participation matters.
And to everyone working tirelessly on the campaign trail, please remember that your mental, emotional, and physical health matter, too.
If you don’t see me out on the campaign trail right now, please understand that I have made the decision to prioritize my health and well-being.
My absence from the campaign trail does not mean an absence of commitment.
My heart remains dedicated to public service, our children, our families, and the future of education in Salisbury.
I am still here. I am still committed. And I remain dedicated to serving on the Rowan- Salisbury School Board.
Sometimes strength is knowing when to keep pushing, and sometimes strength is knowing when to rest.
Today, I am choosing my health without abandoning my purpose.
Thank you for your prayers, understanding, and continued encouragement. ❤️
