In light of #blackouttuesday and our desire to spread awareness that pushes for racial equality and social justice in our country, The Easterner has made the decision that we will join the movement in the following way.

For the next three days, we will fill our website carousel with archived stories that highlight the Black Student Union, Africana Studies program and the Multicultural Center. No other "regular" posts will be made for these days ... stories that were scheduled for today, tomorrow or Thursday will all be posted Friday.

We're also reaching out to BSU and Africana studies to invite anyone involved with those programs to write a column detailing their experiences.

The Easterner stands for racial equality, social justice and celebration of diversity. Anything less is unacceptable to our organization, and this is why we've chosen to take these measures. We hope that our readers join us in showing support of the African-American community and strive for true social equality and justice.
