Dianoia, Boston College's peer-reviewed Undergraduate Journal of Philosophy, is now accepting submissions for the Spring Issue! We are accepting submissions until January 10, 2022.

We are looking for original and thoughtfully written papers on any philosophical topic. Our journal's mission is to provide an open platform for interdisciplinary philosophical discussion and writing among undergraduates across the country and around the world.

Some Tips: While there is no official minimum or maximum length, we usually publish papers between 10 and 30 pages. Submissions should comply with the Chicago Style for citations and should be accessible to an undergraduate audience. Papers should be submitted as a Microsoft Word file. Double submissions are permitted, but we do not accept papers that have been published elsewhere.

Dianoia Celebrates Release of Latest Issue

Chestnut Hill, MA: On May 1, 2019, Dianoia: The Undergraduate Philosophy Journal of Boston College released its sixth issue at an international symposium held at Boston College. Featuring brief talks by our authors, who visited Boston College from Concordia University, The Pontifical Catholic University of Chile, Stony Brook University, Rutgers University, as well as remarks by our internal and external reviewers, this year’s symposium welcomed over 100 people to Stokes Hall, home of BC’s philosophy department.

Issue VI is Dianoia’s most competitive issue to date. The board received over 150 papers from all six inhabited continents and selected six stellar papers for publication. Also, this year, the editorial board was tapped by Cambridge Scholars Press to write a review of Argentine philosopher Julio Cabrera’s newest book, Discomfort and Moral Impediment: The Human Situation, Radical Bioethics, and Procreation. Myles Casey (BC ’17; ’19), graduate advisor of Dianoia and current Ph.D. student at the Pennsylvania State University kindly provided a thought-provoking explication and review of Cabrera’s work. Finally, for the first time ever, Dianoia convened an external review board, comprised of students from Brown, Boston University, and Concordia.
