Literacy Education Program is hosting a Virtual Informational Session:

Wednesday, September 30th from 5:00-5:30pm for anyone interested in earning a Reading Teacher Endorsement or an MA in Literacy Education (with Reading Specialist license).

CTU members qualify for a 15% tuition discount! The deadline to apply for Spring 2027 is November 1st.

Did you know? Northeastern Illinois University was a site of the Commission on Wartime Relocation and Internment of Civilians (CWRIC) hearings that took place in 1981 as part of the Japanese American Redress Movement.

The hearings investigated the legality of Executive Order 9066, a mandate issued by President Franklin D. Roosevelt during World War II that led to the detainment of more than 120,000 people of Japanese ancestry, two-thirds of whom were American citizens.

Join us as we commemorate the 45th anniversary of the CWRIC hearings with a three part series of events that are free and open to the public.

Northeastern Illinois University extends sincere condolences to the family, friends and colleagues of Professor Emeritus Kenneth N. Addison, Ph.D., who passed away on June 7, 2026.

Dr. Addison served the University for nearly 30 years and helped establish the Department of African and African American Studies.

Kenneth N. Addison, Ph.D., a longstanding and significant faculty member in the Department of Educational Leadership and Development, died on June 7, 2026. He was 82 years old. Services were held…
