to the month of June. It kicked off with H. Keith Garcia (ΓΖ President) representing the Midwest Region at the National Puerto Rican Day Parade in NYC. It closed with attendance at our National Convention in Charlotte, NC alongside Hermanos from all over the nation. Excited for all Summertime Chi has to offer us.

The Midwest Region of La Unidad Latina, Lambda Upsilon Lambda Fraternity, Inc. use our core values to be leaders of our community, spreading awareness and calling to action when it is needed most. We stand in solidarity with immigrant communities and oppose the recent actions taken to strip these communities away from their fundamental human rights. It is at this time where we would like to encourage others to be leaders as well, to stay informed, and to take action by providing the these resources to protect our communities.

The Hermanos of La Unidad Latina would like to wish all a Happy Pride Month! 🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️

Pride grew from the Stonewall Uprising in June of 1969 and each year, Pride Month honors that legacy of resistance and fight for equal rights!

In a time where we see increased attacks against the LGBTQ+ community, it is extremely important that we stand beside each other and show allyship. We encourage all Hermanos, familia, friends, and followers to demonstrate allyship everyday!

On May 7, 1999, the Gamma Zeta Professional Chapter made history as the first chapter of La Unidad Latina, Lambda Upsilon Lambda Fraternity, Inc. in the Midwest—marking the beginning of our national expansion beyond the East Coast.

Twenty-six years later, we honor the bold vision of our founders and the lasting contributions of our Hermanos across communities.

Tonight, we gathered in the heart of Chicago to reflect on our roots, uplift our legacy, and build toward a future grounded in Hermandad, service, and excellence.

This month we honor the deep-rooted histories, rich cultures, and invaluable contributions of AAPI communities across the United States. From the building of the transcontinental railroad to shaping arts, science, civil rights, and public service, AAPI individuals have played a vital role in shaping the nation’s past, present, and future. 🌸🌺

Lambda Upsilon Lambda primarily seeks to take a leadership role in meeting the needs of the Latino community through academic achievement, cultural awareness, community service and promotion of the Latino culture and people.

“Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere” - Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

Today, we honored the life and Legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. - a man who turned dreams into movements and words into change

Born in 1929, he rose to lead the civil rights movement, challenging segregation, racial injustice, and inequality with unwavering coverage. From the Montgomery Bus Boycott to his iconic “I Have a Dream” speech, Dr. King’s dedication to equality changed the course of history. His leadership in securing the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and the Voting Rights Act of 1965 reminds us of the power of unity and peaceful resistance.

His fight for injustice and equality inspires us to build a united world. Today, we honor his legacy and continue striving for freedom, justice, and dignity for all.

As members of the Chicagoland Latino community we stand in solidarity with those existing under the threat of deportation from the incoming administration. They are our family, friends, neighbors, and in some cases our Hermanos. We encourage everyone to coalesce around our shared commitments to maintaining the humanity and dignity for nuestra comunidad. These resources are just a start and we encourage their broad distribution. Share in the familia WhatsApp, with neighborhood businesses, and anywhere our neighbors might benefit from it. Remember that Chicago’s Welcoming City Ordinance affords immigrants due process and constitutional protections.
