What can years of preparation and a community that looks out for one another mean when disaster strikes? Harvey Mudd College alumna Mala Arthur ’82 knows firsthand.

When the Eaton Fire swept through the San Gabriel Valley in January 2025, Arthur's Pasadena Glen home and her Altadena rental property both survived. For years, she had helped her neighbors prepare for wildfire through training, evacuation drills, workshops and fire-prevention efforts.

Read more about Arthur in last year's spring/summer edition of "Mudd Magazine," where she shares what happened, what her community learned and why she continues preparing for what comes next. https://uqr.to/mala-mm25.
