For the past two weeks, students from APSU Full Spectrum Learning have been partnered with the APSU GIS Center to work on developing 3D printed mobility trainers! These assistive devices are designed to help toddlers develop independence and motor skills!

Jody Alberd, an assistant professor in the Engineering Technology Department, recently received his first National Science Foundation (NSF) grant as principal investigator—a Research Initiation in Engineering Formation (RIEF) award to study how student veterans develop their engineering identity throughout their senior capstone design projects.

"Veterans come in with a very strong and very powerful military identity that's already well established," Alberd said. "So we want to look at, how does that transition into an engineering identity formation?"

Today is the FINAL day to register for the Austin Peay Chemistry Department Nature to Medicine Camp!

This camp immerses students in chemical research using university-level laboratory facilities and instrumentation. Throughout the week, participants will complete a full research project beginning with the extraction of natural products from plant materials, followed by analytical characterization, and student-friendly bacterial assays designed to explore the potential health-related medicinal properties of the extracted compounds.

For four weeks this summer, Austin Peay hosted some of Tennessee's brightest high school students as they challenged themselves in the Governor's School for Computational Physics—a program that connects theoretical physics and practical computing.

Friends of a beloved veterinarian in Clarksville have found a special way to honor his memory -- by endowing a pre-veterinary scholarship at Austin Peay State University in his name.

The Austin Peay State University Foundation has received a generous gift from Dr. Ernest and Joan De Wald to establish the Drs. D.W. & Ben Howard Pre-Vet Endowment, which will support APSU students pursuing pre-veterinary studies.

“Our hope is to help dedicated students build the academic foundation they need to become compassionate, skilled veterinarians,” Dr. Ernest De Wald said. “Austin Peay has a strong tradition of preparing students for professional study, and we're pleased to support that path while honoring two veterinarians who exemplified excellence and service in their field."

For four weeks, Tennessee's brightest high school students tackled quantum mechanics, machine learning, and Monte Carlo methods, immersing themselves in the courses and tutelage of Austin Peay's amazing faculty.
