The Academy Award-nominated documentary Knife Skills returns to Levin College on Monday, November 16. The film explores the work of Cleveland-based EDWINS Leadership & Restaurant Institute, which provides culinary training and employment opportunities for formerly incarcerated individuals.

The screening will take place from 6 to 8 p.m. in Dively Auditorium at the Levin School of Urban Affairs (1717 Euclid Avenue, Cleveland, OH 44115). The event will also feature remarks from EDWINS founder and CEO Brandon Chrostowski and EDWINS students, with refreshments provided by EDWINS Bakery & Training Center.

This year’s PARK(ing) Day was held in partnership with Downtown Cleveland Inc., the City of Cleveland, OHM Advisors, ASLA Ohio, LAND Studio, APA (Cleveland and CSU chapters), Making Our Own Space (MOOS), the Cleveland Urban Design Collaborative, and the Maxine Goodman Levin School of Urban Affairs.

PARK(ing) Day in downtown Cleveland transformed a stretch of Prospect Avenue, turning parking spaces into temporary public spaces. The international event explores how public space can be designed and used in different ways.

Levin faculty, students, and alumni will participate in the 2026 Association for Budgeting and Financial Management (ABFM) Annual Conference in Washington, D.C., September 24–26.

The conference brings together scholars and practitioners for discussions on public budgeting and financial management. Levin’s involvement also extends to ABFM leadership, with Dr. Elaine Yi Lu, director of the Maxine Goodman Levin School of Urban Affairs, serving as the association’s elected chair and Tatyana Guzman serving as its secretariat contact.

Congratulations to Levin alumna Amal Elhachdani on being selected as a 2026–2027 Cleveland Foundation Public Service Fellow.

Amal, a Cleveland native and recent summa cm laude graduate of Cleveland State University, earned bachelor’s degrees in urban studies and philosophy. Through the fellowship, she will continue her work in educational advocacy and youth development with a placement at Open Doors Academy.
