Congratulations to Welding Engineering alumnus Ernest Levert Sr. P. E., on receiving the Lifetime Achievement Award for Leadership from The Ohio State University College of Engineering.

Levert spent his career providing technical leadership for many of the nation's most critical aerospace and defense programs. He was also the first African American elected president of the American Welding Society and the International Institute of Welding Board of Directors.

Andrew O'Connor opens up the welding engineering colloquium series tomorrow by explaining the vital role of welding in in-space manufacturing and to conduct repairs. Students, faculty and researchers at The Ohio State University have collaborated with NASA since 2021 to develop a self-contained laser welding system capable of performing in extreme environments found in space.
