DBU Student Government Association

The SGA exists to lead, serve, and represent the student body of Dallas Baptist University. The SGA hosts a "Trash Run" every third Thursday of the month.

The main purpose of the Student Government Association is to represent the students concerns and needs on campus in a timely fashion by hosting bi-monthly meetings. Though the SGA's primary mission is to be the official representatives of the student body, we also are a part of several traditions on campus. Every October, the SGA and Student Life come together to put on perhaps the greatest event

of the year, The Great Pumpkin Chase. This fun filled night of food, fellowship, an exhilarating run around campus, and fantastic prizes is always a hit. The event starts at 9 and every apartment, townhome, and brownstone is visited by a member who will happily take out your trash if you wish. The main purpose of this time though, is for the member to discuss any ideas that the resident might have. Once per semester, we host a Carter Blood Drive for the entire campus to be a part of. It is highly publicized and is always a successful event, and a huge blessing to our partners at Carter BloodCare. Every baseball season, the SGA is fortunate to be the keepers of the Decatur Victory Bell. The historic bell has been a part of DBU athletic victories since the 1920's, and it is specifically used today to ring in home baseball game victories by members of the SGA. These are just our "set in stone" events. SGA works hard to make sure the time of our constituents at DBU is great. Please let us know how we may serve you better! That’s a wrap on SGA’s 2022 fall semester!

This has been such a great semester! We have been able to propose a new stop sign resolution, host the Town Hall Come & Go as well as collaborate to host a transfer commuter Christmas event. Additionally, SGA built a homecoming float and helped with International Friendsgiving. We can’t wait for the spring and we pray that everyone has a safe and Merry Christmas break!

an sga summer !!

Hey Patriots! We hope you all have been enjoying your summer! A couple weeks ago, some of our alum and current SGA members got the opportunity to travel with DBU for a class! Here is what our current President Katelyn Gudenau had to say about her time there:

“England was an absolutely remarkable trip. The beauty and architecture of the country is unmatched to anything I’ve seen before. While on this trip one of the more prominent things that stood out from the professors’ lectures was about leadership and the difference between “Resume Goals” verses “Obituary Goals.” Now although this may seem odd, this refers to how you would like to be remembered by other. Would you prefer people to remember you by the things you were good at (ie: excel, GPA, etc.)? Or would you prefer people remember you by the way you cared and showed love to others?

Now although it is still important to constantly strive for success and learn new things, it is also important to step back and see where your goals line up compared to how you want to be remembered as well as how you demonstrated God’s love to others.”
