It's Finer Friday ๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿค

As part of our Finer Fridays series, we're sharing a little bit about ourselves; our stories, our careers and our Zeta Why.

Today, we are featuring the incomparable, Dr. Tami Benifield who we know affectionately as Boujeรฉ Blu. Dr. Benifield works hard for ZZZ as our Program Director, as Chair of the Z Community Foundation and is currently the State Parliamentarian. ๐Ÿ‘ฉ๐Ÿฟโ€โš–๏ธ

Dr. Benifield has been a proud member of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated for 3 years, but has served her community in various ways all her life. She takes Scholarship seriously. If you're looking for a list of scholarships to help put your student through school, she's your Soror! If you need support editing a document, she's your Soror! She reads Robert's Rules for funsies. Tami enjoys bringing people together, creating meaningful community projects, and making sure the work of Zeta leaves a positive impact.

Outside of Zeta, Tami is a part of several other organizations (tell us where you know her from in the comments). Tami is THAT Soror. Always willing to lend a helping hand to Sorors and Amicae, when you call, she answers. She can often be found in the community wearing her Blue and White with a smile. She has the best laugh, the way it bubbles up always makes us want to laugh too. Her pride and joy is her daughter, Kadi.

When asked what keeps her coming back to Zeta she said "seeing our Sorors come together to serve is what keeps me coming back, and I am grateful for the opportunity to help lead those efforts."

Did you know? Nearly 300,000 women will be diagnosed with breast cancer this year, and 1 in 8 women in America will face it in their lifetime. While progress has been made, awareness alone isnโ€™t enough.
For black and brown communities especially, the fight is even harder - resources and research havenโ€™t always represented us. But Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated is working to change that.

๐Ÿ’• Your voice, passion, and support can make the difference. Together, we can ensure every woman has access to the screenings, support, and care she deserves.

โœจ Donโ€™t just wear pink - take action!
โœ”๏ธ Get screened.
โœ”๏ธ Get involved.
โœ”๏ธ Make a donation.

๐Ÿ‘‰๐Ÿพ Letโ€™s fight for every woman, everywhere. Are you in?

On this Gold Star Mothers and Families Day, we pause to honor the families of our fallen service members. We are forever grateful for your profound sacrifice and remain committed to keeping the memories of your loved ones alive.

To the Gold Star families in our community: If you would like to share a story or the name of your loved one, our comments are open to honor their memory.

You know Zeta, but do you know the Denver Zetas?

As part of our Finer Fridays series, we're sharing a little bit about ourselves: our stories, our careers, and our Zeta Why.

Today we present Dr. Julie Clockston! A Zeta since 2024 and a Denver native, Dr. Clockston always has a smile on her face and a kind word for others. She's the type of Soror who is ALWAYS in your corner and has your back, day or night! Don't let the So Sweet smile fool you though, Julie will smile and gather you at the same time. ๐Ÿ˜Š

Julie is a tenured professor at MSU Denver, where in 2025 she became the first African American Black woman named President's Faculty Fellow. She's also a trauma therapist, expert witness, and the visionary author of Sistah Hooded, volume two on the way! ๐Ÿ‘€ When she's not changing the world, you can catch her visiting with her granddogs or grabbing coffee for a good chit chat. If you do call her for a coffee date, prepare for a ki!

Her greatest gifts are her four children, the Redwoods, and her survivorship. As a colorectal cancer survivor and ostomate, she wants you to know: get your colonoscopy at 45, or sooner with symptoms or family history. Early detection saves lives!

Pass the Torch.
Not the Trauma.

Our letters should NEVER be associated with humiliation, fear, or harm. They should reflect the very best of who we are: Scholarship, Service, Sisterhood, and Finer Womanhood.

Knowing the statistics is only the beginning. The real work is in examining what we normalize, questioning what no longer serves us, and making sure our actions consistently reflect the values represented by the letters we proudly wear.

Wear the letters with purpose. Protect our sisters with intention.

Join the conversation with us tonight for Moving Beyond Tradition | A Q&A with Rasheed Ali Cromwell as we continue challenging harmful practices and strengthening the Sisterhood we are responsible for carrying forward.

๐Ÿ”ฅ Pass the Torch, Not the Trauma.
