Students aren’t the only ones making their way back to campus… bike thieves are back, too.

A friendly reminder from Campus Safety: cable locks may be convenient, but they’re also easily cut. A sturdy U-lock is one of the best ways to protect your bike-but how you use it matters.

•Secure your U-lock around the bike FRAME, wheel, and bike rack.

•Avoid relying on cable locks alone.

•Park in well-lit, high-traffic areas whenever possible.

•Register your bike with DU Parking Services.

Registering your bike helps us identify and return it if it’s recovered after a theft-and gives us a way to contact you if your bike is found damaged or needs to be moved.

A few extra seconds to lock it right can save you from losing your ride.
