The last day to add a class/enroll for Fall 2017 (16 week courses) is Wednesday, August 30th.

Students can add an 8W2 course through October 20, 2017. However, financial aid is based on enrollment as of August 30th.

All collaborative add/drop requests must be received no later than Tuesday, August 29th by 3:00 PM MT/4:00 PM CT by using the online form http://dickinsonstate.edu/academics/collaborative-student/

Please see pertinent financial aid information below:

Wednesday, August 30th is the published, last day to add a class. Therefore, the DSU financial aid census will be that evening at 11:00 PM.

How this affects students:
The financial aid census date is the basis used to determine hours attempted for Satisfactory Academic Progress; it also affects the amount of aid a student receives.

Student A, as of 11:00 PM, August 30th, is enrolled in 11 credits. Three credits were not yet entered into the system. Consequently, this student will only receive 3/4 of the State Grant ($731 instead of $975) and 3/4 of the Pell Grant ($2,220 instead of $2,960) Due to timing, this student will not receive $971 in grant aid...Yet, the student will be billed as a full time student once the directed study or late addition credits are added.

According to the Federal Student Aid Handbook, "Your school's policy may set a date after which Pell Grants will not be recalculated for enrollment status changes. For example, a school can establish a policy that it will recalculate Pell awards only for enrollment changes that occur up to the "add/drop" date of a term...You must use the student's effective enrollment status on the date of the initial calculation, and there would be no recalculations of the student's Pell Grant for the term due to a subsequent change in enrollment status, assuming the student began attendance in each class..." This is the policy all NDUS institutions use; we use the financial aid census date.

Backdating directed study and late additions will not "undo" the situation.

Academic Records needs time to manually enter directed study classes into the system; therefore, please deliver directed study forms timely.
