We love seeing posts about our ag graduates! Nikki (Thompson) Darrington graduated from the DSU Department of Agriculture and Technical Studies in 2006 and was our 2016 Alumni Fellow! Hope you enjoy learning more about Nikki!

Welcome to another week of #MeetUsMonday!

Today we have Nikki Darrington!

Nikki Darrington is a District Conservationist for NRCS located in the Watford City Field Office. Nikki's career with NRCS started when she was accepted into NRCS's SCEP program, today's Pathways program. (If you don't know what that is, reach out, she would LOVE to visit with you about it!) She has been with USDA for nearly 15 years, 13 of those with NRCS and 9 in the Watford City office. Nikki enjoys working with producers in McKenzie County and helping them incorporate conservation into their systems. Her favorite things about her job are getting to know the families in our county, educating the youth in the county and she loves Cowgirls ‘n Conservation.
Nikki was born and raised in rural Arnegard, ND, and gets the pleasure of living there today! She attended Dickinson State University and obtained a degree in Natural Resources Management. Following college and a few years into her career, she married Patrick and together they have three kids, Gracyn, Gavyn, and Graham. Nikki is a 4-H leader and a Sunday School teacher and enjoys camping with her family, farm life, and reading a good book.
Nikki is our Team Captain and is always rooting for our team and the producers of McKenzie County. What we appreciate most about Nikki is that she always comes to work with a great attitude, a smile, and the will to help everyone around her be the best version of themselves that they can be!

Blue Hawks roll past Mayville State in rematch | The Dickinson Press

Students in the news! Great to see Riley Linder pictured on this article about the DSU Football Team beating Mayville State! "Riley Linder dominated the run game against the Comets with 84 rushing yards and one touchdown." Another Ag student, Jaret Lee, was also mentioned! "Senior wideouts Jaret Lee and Tyger Frye combined for a total of 96 yards for the Blue Hawks. Lee was the only receiver to record a receiving touchdown on a 4-yard connection with Boedecker in the second quarter."

Following the injury of Mayville State’s star quarterback Creighton Pfau in the second quarter, Dickinson State capitalized on its opponents to pull out a 37-7 victory over the Comets in week six.

It was a pleasure to host District 8's FFA District Leadership today. The event looked different than in past years in order to meet COVID-19 protocol, but it was still fun to see the "blue coats" in the building. Pictures are limited as contestants only entered the building when they were ready to compete and exited immediately following completion when they headed back to their bus. Aaron Anderson, Agricultural Education Supervisor for ND Career and Technical Education, looked very dapper in his DSU tie! Kudos to New England Ag Teacher Ben Krebs (an alum of DSU Ag!) for his ingenuity in providing a fun and safe gathering place for his New England FFA family.

I really enjoy mapping out the home towns of all our students every fall. It's interesting to see where our students call home. The blue markers indicate on-campus students. The purple horse markers indicate our online equine students. And yes, we do have an on-campus student from Japan! Annika

As the fall semester begins I know a lot of us are focusing on getting back into gear. I really enjoy how supportive this page is in highlighting those in the agricultural field and because of that, I wanted to share with y'all a new trailer I found on Youtube called “Kiss the Ground. ” It offers a new look on regenerative agriculture and offers simple and viable solutions we all can take into the way we look at farming practices and caring for our top soil. It’s coming out on Netflix Sept 22 along with a Q&A watch party event on Facebook if anyone’s interested!
