The Alumni Association was established in 1920 to further the spirit of unity between the successive classes, to nurture the common love for their alma mater and to aid in the development and growth of Dickinson State. Today, the Alumni Association boasts 11,000-plus members with the common goal of “friend”raising. At Dickinson State University we believe in the motto "Once a Hawk. Always a Hawk." As a DSU family member, you are the backbone of our institution. Because of your involvement, we can continue our rich traditions and exceed expectations in higher education.
The Alumni Association is governed by a broad spectrum of members from across the region. The Alumni Association Board meets on a quarterly basis to conduct the business of the association and to hear an update on Dickinson State University.
The Dickinson State University Foundation, Inc. was organized in 1952 as a non-profit corporation under the laws of the State of North Dakota. All donations to the foundation are tax-exempt for federal income, gift, and estate tax purposes with certain limitations as described by the Code. The Foundation was established to provide an avenue through which alumni and friends of the University may contribute financially to the University. Gifts, grants, and bequests to the Foundation benefit present and future students by providing scholarship assistance and the funding of special projects not available through funding sources.
The Foundation is managed by a Board of Directors comprised of leading citizens, both alumni and friends of the University. This board provides direction for the three major functions necessary to carry out the mission of the Foundation: 1) promote giving, 2) management and investment of funds, and 3) allocation of funds.
