Craig and Desiree had the honor and pleasure of representing the Hodges Family at NC A&T’s Annual Endowed Scholarship Luncheon this past Friday. This luncheon serves as an annual reminder of why we give back: the students. Three years ago we (the Family) started this journey as we established the Carl D Hodges Sr Memorial Scholarship Fund in honor of our father and grandfather, Carl Sr. We’re honored to announce that we’ve met our original $25k pledge goal! Next year and beyond, our scholarship fund will provide financial assistance to future Aggies! 💙💛

Today on March 9th, 1891, the college we now know as North Carolina Agricultural & Technical State University (NC A&T) was established! AGGIE PRIDE! 💙💛

“The college was established with the intention "to teach practical agriculture and mechanic arts and such branches of learning as relate there to, not excluding academic and classical instruction" to African American citizens of North Carolina”

We’ve come a long way, but still a ways to go. To help close that gap, my family created an endowment at A&T in my grandfather’s name: Carl D Hodges, Sr. to provide financial assistance to future Aggies. As of today, we have achieved 98% of our pledge goal! My family and I are incredibly grateful for the contributions thus far and encourage you to support future NC A&T students by donating today. The Belk’s Charity Sale is Nov 7-9. For a $5 donation per ticket you get that same $5 off your purchase + up to 25% discount on selected items. The Carl Hodges Sr Memorial Scholarship Foundation is selling tickets on site at the Belk at Southpoint Mall in Durham today from 10-1 and Saturday from 2-5. Happy Homecoming, Aggies! The Greatest Homecoming on Earth is HERE!

If you’re considering a contribution to NC A&T this week, I’d ask that you consider making a contribution to Carl D. Hodges, Sr Memorial Endowment Scholarship at NC A&T. It’s an endowment created to honor of our grandfather, Carl Sr., who passed in 2020. We’re only $4k (or 15%) short of our pledge goal.🌡️ Once fully funded, the scholarship will provide financial assistance to students with a minimum GPA of 3.5 and reside in the following NC counties: Durham, Cumberland or Northampton.

Our grandfather graduated from A&T with honors in 1954 with a BS in Agricultural Education. He went on to dedicate 35 years of service to the NC Cooperative Extension Service; ultimately serving as NC’s (and the nation’s) first Black County Director. He established a legacy of Aggie Pride that has continued to flow in our family from generation to generation.

Friends and family,

In 2023, the Hodges Family created the Carl D. Hodges, Sr Memorial Endowment Scholarship at NC A&T in honor of my grandfather, Carl Sr., who passed in 2020. To date, with your help, we’ve raised 75% of our campaign goal! Thank you! Once fully funded, the scholarship will provide financial assistance to students with a minimum GPA of 3.5 and reside in the following NC counties: Durham, Cumberland or Northampton.

My grandfather graduated from A&T in 1954 with a BS in Agricultural Education. He went on to dedicate 35 years of service to the NC Cooperative Extension Service; ultimately serving as NC’s (and the nation’s) first Black County Director.
