Congratulations to Adam Chrzan, Phd student in Dr. Tamara Reid Bush's lab!
Adam won first place in the 3-minute Thesis Competition at the 2024 American Society of Biomechanics meeting. This was a national biomechanics meeting held in Madison, Wisconsin with over 1000 participants. Adam's research highlighted the need for innovative ways to evaluate the effectiveness of treatments for thumb osteoarthritis. Osteoarthritis is a painful disease that will affect 1 in 3 men, and the majority of women in their lifetimes, so it is important to have good medical care. In addition, Adam has developed new approaches to view and determine changes before and after surgical intervention.
Dr. Bush and Adam have, and continue to, work closely with hand surgeons in Grand Rapids and University of Michigan.
