From March 14–20, 26 students from the PMBA and OMBA programs traveled to Tokyo, Japan, as part of the Faculty-Led Program, gaining a global perspective through immersive corporate and cultural experiences.

Students heard from executives at Toyota, Globis University, Okamura, Gensler, and The Carter Group, exploring the Japanese economy and the influence of cultural values—such as discipline, hard work, and tradition—on both daily life and business practices. These insights demonstrated how international companies must adapt to succeed in the Japanese market.

Students also examined how organizations are leveraging artificial intelligence to drive creativity and impact, and toured the Kewpie mayonnaise factory, where they learned firsthand about
its commitment to quality control and a vision for healthy eating.

In addition to company visits, students immersed themselves in Japanese culture through a cooking class, a traditional tea ceremony, kimono dressing, and a hands-on drumming experience.

During our visit to Gensler, Sarah Bader (Executive Director), shared a powerful reminder: “People remember stories, they do not remember facts.”After a week in Tokyo, our students return with meaningful stories that capture the essence of the UTEP MBA Faculty-Led Program.
