Congratulations to our Movimiento member PoloTeo Medina on his talk at the El Paso Mexican American Cultural Center this past Saturday! He had a great turnout and had an impressive mini-exhibit with books, photos, relics and more! He even had little Zoot Suit hat keychains to give out! We were so proud and happy to be there for him, reppin’ our Movimiento ChucanX and cheering him on.

Yesterday, our Movimiento member PoloTeo Medina and our Secretary Aylinne took part in the Performance Activism course under the Collaborative Online International Learning system, with Dr. Virginia Ordonez Hernandez (UACJ), Assistant Professor Rayven Armijo (UTEP - Theatre and Dance), and Dr. Selfa A. Chew-Melendez (Chicano Studies, Creative Writing and History). All participants did an outstanding job! We’re so proud of PoloTeo and Aylinne and we’re sure this will come in handy for our historical walking tours!

This week, Movimiento ChucanX teamed up with local high school youth leaders to give a summer camp at the El Paso Museum of History for middle schoolers. The theme was “The Power of Protest”.

This event was particularly special as two of the main high school youth leaders had attended our summer camp last year and took the inspiration we instilled in them to lead the walkouts at Eastwood High School to protest ICE violence and unlawful detainments.

We’re incredibly proud to be able to motivate young people in our community to use their voices for GOOD and for CHANGE!

Talking to people and telling them about the awesome things that Movimiento ChucanX has done—easy as that. It’ll be fun, you’ll definitely meet new people, and you can watch some of the films after!
