If your first semester of enrollment at FGCU was Fall 2022 or after, you will need to complete the Career Ready Eagles module that is on your Canvas before a hold is placed on your account that prevents you from registering for summer and fall semester. That hold will be visible in your Gulfline account on February 1st as a CR Hold.

Sigma Tau Delta is an international English honor society open to students from all majors. Membership in the organization gives you access to publication, scholarship, and internship opportunities, as well as the ability to attend the annual Sigma Tau Delta Convention. On campus, Sigma hosts some super fun events for literature lovers, like movie nights, book exchanges, and more!

Let’s give a warm welcome back to the FGCU English page with an introduction to one of our great professors in the department, Dr. Humann. Swipe to find out more about her!

Heather Duerre Humann is the author of five books: Domestic Abuse in the Novels of African American Women: A Critical Study (2014), Gender Bending Detective Fiction: A Critical Analysis of Selected Works (2017), Another Me: The Doppelgänger in 21st Century Fiction, Television, and Film (2018), Reality Simulation in Science Fiction Literature, Film, and Television (2019), and A Tale Told by a Machine: The AI Narrator in Contemporary Science Fiction Novels (2023).

Her numerous articles, essays, and book reviews appear in edited collections as well as in journals such as African American Review, Clues: A Journal of Detection, Chelsea, Children’s Literature Association Quarterly, South Atlantic Review, Interdisciplinary Literary Studies, Studies in the Novel, Indiana Review, Obsidian: Literature in the African Diaspora, Studies in American Culture, and Journal of Popular Film and Television.
