Mad scientists in the making 😎#IPM #integratedpestmanagement Gearing up for insecticide application! The type of fungus we utilized is called beauvaria bassiana and it attacks its host from within acting like a disease~ When the spores of this fungus come in contact with susceptible insects, they germinate and grow directly through the inner body of their host 😱😱😱 Unfortunately, the ladybugs and lacewings we released in the greenhouse were not able to control the aphid outbreak 😷 Although this solution was a last resort as organic farmers it’s safe to say that this method derived from bacteria and bio chemicals of plants is less toxic then using traditional synthetic pesticides 🀟🏽 #nosyntheticchemicals #localfood #gmugreen
