Alpha Kappa Chi is a co-educational professional environmental fraternity.

Alpha Kappa Chi (AKX) was founded on April 20, 2011 at the University at Buffalo, the State University of New York. Members of AKX are individuals with a strong passion for, and commitment to promoting sustainable living and protecting our home, the Earth.

" Hi! My name is Erin Dougherty and I am graduating with a degree in Environmental and Sustainability Studies. This summer I will start an internship with the Smithsonian Turtle Conservation Ecology Lab, an exciting first step into my career! I joined AKX in Fall 2023 and served as Vice President for my final semester. My favorite part has been spending time with my brothers and finding little critters on our hikes!🐢 I love this family with my whole heart and look forward to seeing where life takes everyone❤️🦈B.S. Environmental Science, minor in conservation studies and concentration in conservation. I plan to work as an Animal keeper helping with animal behavior and wellness of endangered species. My favorite part of AKX were when we got together to pick up trash around campus, and making new friends! I joined in fall 2024🦈"

As our semester comes to an end we would like to recognize our graduating seniors!!

Starting off we have Willa! (Fall 24)

Willa is gaining a B.S. Environmental Science, minor in conservation studies and concentration in conservation. She plans to work as an Animal keeper helping with animal behavior and wellness of endangered species and her favorite part of AKX were when we got together to pick up trash around campus, and making new friends!

We will miss you Willa!!

As we draw closer to the beginning of the semester and the excitement of seeing our brothers, we also look forward to meeting our new brothers this year!! Join us for our Rush weeks in February and follow our page to stay up to date!!

As this semester creeps closer to its end, I wanted to take a minute to recognize our eboard :D

Mav joined AKX in Fall 2022, and has held the position of Pledge Parent, Historian, and now President! They are an incredible leader, and an even more incredible friend.

Alexa is our Vice President! She pledged Fall 2023, and has since been such a fun light in our chapter! Shes so easy to talk to and a wonderful edition to our team.

Sophia is our current treasurer! She pledged along Alexa in Fall 23, and is so cool! Sophia will be studying abroad next semester and we will miss her so so much

Mark is our Secretary but has also worn the VP hat. He is our head of service and is always taking care of and looking out for our brothers. Between trash pickup organization, fire and tent building, and walking behind on our hikes to make sure no one is left behind, we wouldnt be where we are without you.

And Hope, hands down our funniest eboard member. Hope is currently Standards and pledged with Mark spring 2023. She is always around to cheer people up and make people laugh, and she always has the best ideas!

(Hi im lexi, im the historian and i pledged with Mav spring 2022, im not going to brag about myself but i love these people and the earth 🥰🌎)

This semester we are planning to work with GMU Friends of the observatory to minimize light pollution on campus! Right now there are lights by the observatory that make use difficult or impossible. Join us on October 19th at TeaDo to raise money to help with our project!
