Patriot Green Fund

Patriot Green Fund The Patriot Green Fund (PGF) is a $100,000 per year sustainability fund at George Mason University The PGF strives to foster an environment where Mason can flourish academically in part through practicing environmental, social, and economic stewardship.

This fund seeks to finance projects that have a high value in all three of these areas of sustainability. There is also need to raise awareness and support for a culture of sustainability on campus and in our communities. Additionally, this fund will empower students by providing them an unprecedented opportunity to lead and direct projects that will create positive change.

Mission: Goals of the PGF 1) Enable students to conduct research and implement scholarship-related projects that demonstrate environmental leadership and benefit the Mason community and surrounding region. 2) Reduce Mason’s environmental impact by making tangible improvements to habits, facilities and operations. 3) Improve understanding and awareness of, and support for, sustainability issues for the entire Mason community, leading to a strong community network and stewardship.

Hey Mason folks! Did you know that this Thursday is the "Lights Out, Power Down Hour"-? In an effort to reduce emissions, save energy, and save $$$, all of Mason is switching to lower-footprint activities like meeting with friends/colleagues, reading/researching, and/or volunteering in the community. Please re-share and post what you'll be doing to 'power down' during this time! :-)

Mason faculty, staff, and students, please see this important notice from the Energy Office. For more info, please contact Pat Buchanan ([email protected])

Mason's Office of Energy Management is encouraging all students, faculty, and staff on the Fairfax campus to participate in its “Lights Out! - Power Down!” event to be held on Thursday, June 20th, from 3 to 4 p.m.

Community members will be asked to turn off and unplug, if appropriate, all non-critical lighting and electrical loads prior to and during the one-hour event to kick-off the university’s summer electrical demand management program.

Mason has participated in the program for the past 4 years. With an annual 2,000 kilowatt reduction commitment Mason has received $300,000 to date. This year, Mason has set 2,000 kilowatts as their reduction commitment participation.
