Etched in Stone: The Legacy of Alan Merten

Etched in Stone: The Legacy of Alan Merten This special edition magazine will commemorate the legacy of Alan Merten, George Mason University's fifth president.

George Mason University has come a long way since 1996--it has expanded across four campuses, transformed from a commuter school to one that is predominately residential and earned national recognition following a startling NCAA Final Four run. A key player in the university's success has been its president, Alan G. Merten. As his 16-year term comes to an end this June, Merten is leaving an indelible mark. "Etched in Stone" aims to capture his invaluable accomplishments and contributions to the GMU community. The magazine will be released on April 27, 2012 at Mason Day.
