E-cigarettes make this aerosol by heating a liquid that usually contains nicotine—the addictive drug in regular cigarettes—flavorings, and other chemicals. Bystanders can also breathe in this aerosol when the user exhales into the air. Talk with a healthcare provider if you need help quitting tobacco products, including e-cigarettes.
