The Department of Music provides opportunities for scholarship and performance to prepare students for careers in education and the music industry. Current degree programs include: Bachelor of Arts in Education: Music, and Bachelor of Arts in Music. All of our ensembles are open to any student, regardless of their major.

The Fairmont State University Department of Music provides excellent musical instruction for its students through a highly qualified professional staff of performing and teaching professors, a constantly improving and varied curriculum, and a series of sequential musical experiences for students in all music degree programs. The department delivers in exposing music students to many new and innovative educational and musical ideas as well as emphasizing the musical heritage of the past. The music department offers a variety of ensembles, including marching band, wind ensemble, jazz ensemble, African drum and dance ensemble, collegiate singers, and chamber choir. These ensembles regularly perform on campus, at regional events, and on performance tours.
