As the FIRST entry-level OTD program in the state of North Carolina, the Methodist University Doctor of Occupational Therapy program will be a leader in occupational therapy education for the development of diverse and critically-thinking practitioners. The program will generate compassionate and ethical leaders who will serve their communities and the profession as a bridge between biomedical and sociocultural health through the delivery of authentic, evidence-based use of daily life activities to improve health. Through their practice, our graduates will engage, enrich, and empower the lives and communities they serve.

Mission: The mission of the MU OTD program is to cultivate exceptional clinicians who become professional leaders that are committed to advancing human health and wellness through participation in everyday life activities. Graduates will think critically through the use of contemporary evidence-based practice and demonstrate the distinct value of authentic occupational therapy practices through their body of knowledge, specialized skills, and client-centered care.

House Bill 902 (2019-2020 Session) - North Carolina General Assembly

North Carolina HB 902 is the Military-Trained/Spouse Licensure Practices bill. This bill would direct the Program Evaluation Division to study ways to make it easier for military and military spouses to become licensed by occupational licensing boards in the state. We would love to see our occupational therapy colleagues here in Fayetteville/Ft. Bragg supported in this way!
Keep an eye on it to see if it is picked up by the Senate in the short session! #MUOTD #FtBragg #Fayetteville #WeAreMU #VeteransDay #militaryspouses 🇺🇸

First Time Pedicure - Autism and Milestones

There are simply things you miss out on when you have a child with autism or special needs. Priscilla has missed out on some of the traditional mother and daughter activities and it's always been something that she's longed for. At school they've used a foot spa and we've used one at home as well to get Abbie comfortable and possibly to the point of enjoying being pampered at a nail salon. Is this a necessary life skill that she's learning or something that will help her in the future? No, of course it isn't...but it's enjoyable and makes us all smile. Life is short, seek things that make you smile. We hoped one day Priscilla and Abbie would both be able to enjoy going to the salon together. Today is that day. Abbie's first time pedicure.
