Join the Mississippi Black Women’s Roundtable for a special morning of art, storytelling, community, and conversation at the Mississippi Museum of Art.
On Saturday, September 12, 2026, at 10:00 AM, MS BWR will present Through Our Lens: Black Art, Black Health & the Stories That Move Us, a special One Nation Overcharged activation during the Mississippi Museum of Art’s Art & Coffee program.
Cassandra Welchlin, Executive Director of the Mississippi Black Women’s Roundtable, will serve as the featured speaker for a conversation inspired by selected works from the Museum’s Photography and the Black Arts Movement, 1955–1985 exhibition.
Together, we’ll explore the connections between Black art, storytelling, health, and the rising cost of healthcare, particularly the impact these challenges have on Black women, families, and communities across Mississippi.
This special activation is part of MS BWR’s participation in One Nation Overcharged, a nationwide, people-powered movement calling for a healthcare system that puts our health over corporate profits and works for everyone.
Attendees can also enjoy coffee and pastries provided by Urban Foxes.
The first 10 eligible attendees to sign in will receive a complimentary one-year membership to the Mississippi Museum of Art, limited to one membership per household.
Attendees who join the One Nation Overcharged campaign onsite will also receive an exclusive MS BWR One Nation Overcharged coloring book while supplies last.
Come experience art, share stories, discuss healthcare affordability, and learn how you can take action.
