The Schoffer Holocaust Resource Center is located on the second floor of the Stockton Library. Our facilities are free and open to the public.

The Sara & Sam Schoffer Holocaust Resource Center, is located on the second floor of the Stockton University Library. The Holocaust Resource Center is open from Monday through Thursday, 8:30 AM to 6:00 PM and Fridays from 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM. Guided tours are available by appointment. Tomorrow on Think Tank,

Steve sits down with Angelo Valente, Executive Director of Drug-Free NJ, to examine how the organization addresses opioid drug deaths through advocacy, alternative options, and collaboration with healthcare providers.

Then, Steve speaks with Irvin Moreno-Rodriguez, Director of The Sara & Sam Schoffer Holocaust Resource Center at Stockton University, about preserving the memory of the Holocaust and South Jersey's unique connection to survivors.

Later, Steve is joined by Nico Bocour, Vice President of State Affairs at GIFFORDS, to discuss how gun safety laws play a pivotal role in preventing gun violence.

The Sara & Sam Schoffer Holocaust Resource Center is honored to partner with the Stockton University Art Gallery (Galloway campus) to present the extraordinary work of Magda Watts (1929–2019), a Holocaust survivor whose art bears witness to both unimaginable suffering and enduring resilience.

As a teenager, Magda was deported to Auschwitz-Birkenau and later transferred to a subcamp, Nuremburg (Siemens-Schuckertwerke). There, Magda began creating dolls from rags and scraps she found - small companions that helped shield her from the atrocities she witnessed, including deportation, forced labor, hunger, and murder. The dolls ultimately saved her life.

After liberation, Magda settled in Eilat Israel, where she built a new life through her art. She dedicated herself to creating dolls that depict her Jewish life before the war and the resilience of those who survived.

Yesterday, we concluded a four-day research trip to the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum library and the David and Fela Shapell Family Collections, Conservation, and Research Center to expand the information available in our Holocaust Survivors of South Jersey Project database. The HSSJ project aims to document the lives of Holocaust survivors who settled in Atlantic, Cape May, and Cumberland counties. The records we found while researching these archives helped fill many gaps in our local survivors’ histories.

We thank Dr. Michael Hayse, Professor of Historical Studies at Stockton University and holder of the Wally and Lutz Hammerschlag Chair in Holocaust and Genocide Studies, for organizing this study tour and giving students the opportunity to learn how to conduct this research and understand why it is so important. We also thank Rebecca Rodriguez, Assistant Director of the Sara & Sam Schoffer Holocaust Resource Center, for helping organize the trip and driving our students to Maryland.

We are incredibly proud to see Holocaust survivor Maud Dahme featured on HISTORY Channel!

As one of the hidden children of the Holocaust in the Netherlands, Maud has dedicated her life to ensuring that the voices of the past are never forgotten. Her tireless work in promoting Holocaust education has reached students, educators, and communities all around the world.

By sharing her powerful story on a global platform, she continues to inspire future generations to stand up against antisemitism and other forms of hatred. We are profoundly grateful for her dedication, her resilience, and her vital contributions to Holocaust education.

Today, the Sara and Sam Schoffer Holocaust Resource Center was proud to stand 'United in Green' alongside the Mental Health Association in Atlantic County in support of Mental Health Awareness Month 💚

The Holocaust Resource Center promises to continue promoting compassionate education, foster understanding, and highlight the importance of caring for one another.

Thank you to Stockton alum, Joshua Matz, and former student of our director, Irvin Moreno-Rodriguez, for remembering the lessons and legacies of the Holocaust. One person can make a diference!
