What’s better than singing with your favorite people? Singing and eating ICE CREAM with your favorite people!!! 🍦🎵

Last night the College Choir and Concert Choir joined together to begin learning Handel’s Messiah which they will preform together on December 4th at 8pm in Christ Chapel!

GCC and Concert Choir made great progress learning this difficult music, a unique moment for the two ensembles who don’t often have the chance to rehearse together. And of course the ice cream was a big hit! Shout out to the GCC Executive Board for scooping for everyone! 🍨

Such an exciting night being able to bond with both members new and old! We love seeing our choir community thrive in this new season of music, and we can’t wait to see what’s to come! 🧡💙

This summer, GCC member Harlan Yarin ‘28 went to Salzburg, Austria to attend the month-long Patti and Alan Herbert Frost School of Music Program! Harlan kept extremely busy, receiving two voice lessons and 1 coaching session a week, but he also got to experience many fun activities like swimming, hiking, and attending music festivals.

“Coming back to choir, I want everyone to know that although it is possible to start your music career in the US without going to Europe, it’s much harder, and I highly recommend going so that you’ll make more connections abroad!”

Gettysburg choirs are all so proud of Harlan, and we are so grateful to have his musical development brought back to the states to sing with us once again!

Happy first rehearsal week! GCC kicked it off yesterday with plenty of new members and plenty of new friendships already being created! Concert Choir also had their first rehearsal on Wednesday, and the Paul Recital Hall was packed!!!

And such a hearty sound from all of these folks so early on!! We are excited to have such amazing groups for the year, and to bring our GCC members on international tour this March! 🌎✈️🧳 Stay tuned for more updates to come…

There’s a chance you may have received a note on the door…if so, thank our GCC members + Exec for a successful Dorm Storm this morning!! If you did not receive a note, that’s okay!! Take note of the posters plastered around campus! They’ll show you the way to our Open House on Saturday as well as the audition schedule this week!

A huge congratulations to choir member Ashley Gage ‘28 her trip to Orvieto, Italy this summer to participate in the Orvieto Musica program!

Our GCC assistant manager spent three weeks preforming concerts, each with a different theme, including arias, Bel Canto, and musical theater. Ashley was able to work with different vocal coaches from around the world, and took Italian classes as well!

“It was the most incredible experience. I had so much fun not only getting to participate in my coachings, masterclasses, and concerts, but getting to experience Italian culture outside of tourist Italy. I was able to learn so much, and I made wonderful friends as well!”

Ashley also notes that a highlight of this program was getting to sing in the choir for the premere of Giuseppe Bruni’s “Missa in Honorem Sancti Francisci”. How cool!?!

She states how “the rehearsals were very fast pace and run entirely in Italian, so they definitely required me knowing my music inside and out. Getting to sing in a new environment with a new director alongside singers from both the program and a choir from Orvieto is an experience I will absolutely bring back to our choirs at Gettysburg!”

Ashley, you are amazing, and we are so proud to have you represent Gettysburg Choirs internationally with your amazing skill!
