Congratulations 21st Mid-Atlantic Regional Director Attorney Tracey Watkins.

It was my honor to bring greetings and offer a charge on behalf of the Eastern Regional Director of Zeta Phi Beta Amelia Hunt Birchette to the Mid-Atlantic Region of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated, Attorney Tracey Watkins.

I shared five important reminders about supporting leadership throughout the journey:

1. Pray for Her and Cover Her. Keep her lifted in prayer.

2. Respect Her Time and Space. Honor her boundaries and her life beyond leadership.

3. Hold Her Accountable, but Don’t Harass Her. Expect excellence while extending grace and respect.

4. Respect Her Leadership. Support her vision, honor her decisions, and disagree respectfully.

5. Don’t Just Expect Her to Lead—Help Her Succeed. Leadership is a shared responsibility, and everyone has a role to play.

My closing charge was simple:

“Don’t make her spend more time defending her leadership than exercising it. Cover her, respect her, challenge her, and most importantly, STAND WITH HER! And lastly, if you can’t help her, don’t hurt her. Just step aside, because she’s covered anyway!”

Lessons I’ve learned as a leader and follower. Leadership requires support, not just expectations.

What a phenomenal experience at the Black Health Matters (BHM) Health Summit & Expo with Soror Rosalyn Young Daniels and her team.

I had the honor of bringing morning greetings. We also enjoyed getting WELL-informed, connecting with amazing people, and even checking two things off our wellness list including my flu and COVID shots while George got his prostrate testing.

The series of presenters, panelists and guest speakers sharing REAL stories affecting the Black families and communities were powerful. The information, screenings, services, and resources here are absolutely phenomenal! And did I mention it’s FREE, FREE, FREEEEEE! 🙌🏾

Shout out to all the NC Sorors that made their way in the building!

2022 to 2026
Same Sisterhood.
Greater Purpose.
Different Levels. 💙🤍

Some relationships are built on proximity. Others are built on purpose. And then there are those rare friendships where iron truly sharpens iron.

Four years. Two pictures. Countless conversations, lessons, challenges, prayers, and moments of growth in between.

This is what sisterhood looks like when it’s more than a title. When you have people in your corner who don’t just celebrate who you are, but challenge you to become who you’re capable of being.

Real sisterhood doesn’t compete. It cultivates.
It doesn’t diminish your light to make room for another. It reminds you that there’s enough room for BOTH of you to shine.

It’s the honest conversations 😮‍💨. The accountability ✅. The encouragement💙. The willingness to challenge each other’s thinking, speak truth in love, and show up when the assignment gets heavy💪🏾.

Because iron sharpening iron isn’t always comfortable. Sometimes it requires correction. Sometimes it requires courage. But when the relationship is rooted in genuine love, mutual respect, and a shared commitment to growth, we don’t just get older together. We get BETTER together.

And that’s the beauty of friendship and sisterhood. You don’t have to walk into every new season alone. Sometimes God places people in your life who can see the next version of you before you can see her yourself.

Here’s to the sisters who sharpen us, stretch us, cover us, challenge us, and celebrate us. The ones who understand that your elevation is not a threat to mine.

2022 to 2026. Still sharpening. Still growing.
